I also cant see VIP offered as a package deal any more ( http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html...e-builder.html). Does that mean am no longer on such a deal?
Thanks for reading.

To save BenMcr's blood pressure, VIP + 50MB is an extra £8 per month plus £50 installation.

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month
I downgraded/upgraded my Virgin Media package from:
XL Phone
XL TV (V+ and extra box)
XL Broadband
To:
M Phone
XL TV (V+ and extra box)
XXL Broadband
The difference in price is only about £3.50 p/month. We barely use the house phone (Virgin Mobiles), so decided to reduce that in favour of the additional broadband.
The setup cost is £20 added to the next bill. However, the installation date is in October now, I guess everyone's taking up the new price drop for 50MB Broadband.
It took me about 30 minutes to clarify my currently monthly spend and how much more it would cost to upgrade. I was naive thinking that for £1 more, I could receive the XXL Broadband.

However, to raise BenMcr's blood pressure again, does everyone upgrading to XXL get the free router and USB adapter, or is that 'new customers only'. I had assumed everybody, but noticed that someone over on the newsgroups had been told it was 'new customers only'.

Be interesting to see whether you are only charged £20 setup, or the 'normal' £50.

Only £20 was mentioned, so if it comes out at £50 on the bill, I'll be phoning again! The upgrade includes the modem/router at no additional cost. To be fair to Virgin, I've never had problems with them and their customer services are very good - unlike NTL's were previously. They're very patient too, even with me trying to argue that I should only pay £1 more.

I Think it all boils down to the person who takes the order. I was quoted the full £50. £30 install + £20 Activation Which I accepted, to be called back literally 30 seconds later and told they were going to credit the £30 to my account so in actual fact all i would pay was the acivation fee. Just the luck of the draw i guess. With regards to the router and dongle, afaik it is everyone who upgrades to 50mb. simply because the wireless g router will not handle 50mb speeds via the wireless connection. Iirc it maxes out at round about 38mb.

Just found the answer (from Ben) on the VM forum. Sounds like the newsgroup poster was misinformed (how unusual!).

So much for BenMcr's claim that 'everyone pays the same' No wonder his blood pressure is high!

Ben is correct in what he says, at least by the rules. The problem I think, is that different teams seem to interpret the rules to suit themselves. At the end of the day, I cant complain because i saved meself £30 but looking at the wider point of view then yes, same for all is the rule and it should be kept to no matter which department deals with it.
Ben does a good job on here, as do all the guys connected to vm and always answer to the best of their ability, only to be made to appear wrong by the various departments who either have a certain amount of leeway in things like this or just like to bend the official line.

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month
Okay, BenMcr is correct it works out at £8 extra (at least on my bill anyway) {I have sympathy Ben, I work for Sky sales and get the same problems when all the stupid! customers cannot understand simple price changes too!)
Here's last months bill and this months bill (excluding call charges) :
Telephone Line Rental 23 August - 22 September £11.00
Payment Handling Charge 23 August - 22 September £5.00
Talk Unlimited 23 August - 22 September £7.95
Ultimate Triple 23 August - 22 September £-21.00
Call Displ 23 August - 22 September £2.00
T V Size: X L 23 August - 22 September £23.00
Broadband Size: X L 23 August - 22 September £37.00
Telephone Line Rental 23 September - 22 October £11.00
Payment Handling Charge 23 September - 22 October £5.00
Talk Unlimited 23 September - 22 October £7.95
Talk Mobile 23 September - 22 October £1.50
Ultimate Triple 23 September - 22 October £-21.00
Call Displ 23 September - 22 October £2.00
T V Size: X L 23 September - 22 October £23.00
XXL 50Mb Broadband 23 September - 22 October £45.00
So all charges are the same except it is £8 higher due to broadband increase.

If you were to look a little closer and read a few more of the posts on here, you might find that the customers arent always stupid, the pricing system at times is about as clear as mud and it doesn't exactly help the matter when charges are applied to bills incorrectly and discounts missed off altogether or applied wrongly as I'm sure Ben and any of the Virgin staff here will agree.

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month
I have just been on the phone to VM for 40mins speaking to a charming lady from customer services who advised me it would cost me a extra £17 to upgrade to XXL BB from XL BB so after all discounts i would be paying £75 for XXL BB,XL TV,XLphone (which i was unaware i had ) she is putting a note on my account to say i am unhappy at not being able to get XXL BB for £28 pm as advertised on the website
she also stated that the price of upgrading to XXL depended on, and i quote"the discounts available on my account"which she has no control over
so ,at the end of all this ,it means that no-one pays the price on the web site unless you are a new customer .The "build a bundle "part of the web site is only for new customers and must not be used for existing as they do not apply ,i know this because i asked the lady i was talking to (and her manager confirmed it)why i couldn't get my deal for £55 as quoted on 'build a bundle'(xxlbb, xltv, xlphone)instead of £75 she quoted
so BenMcr,when you have finished banging your head against a wall and being snotty with everyone who asks what should be a simple question ,try phoning VM yourself and see how you get on

Re: 50MB Broadband now just £18 per month
I phoned today and my service was M M M for £36. I got the 50 mbit for £3 more.
So £39 for me.
I ask an Indian and an English woman both said £3 more, so £28 then!
Install date 21st Sept, have to pay the 50 quid though.

well that just my point, the prices on the web site aren't worth a toss they just don't apply to existing customers who as far as VM are concerned also aren't worth a toss
I have XLBB,XL TV ,XL phone, and a mobile from them surely that's worth a small bit of love from them
