Caller ID
When we first moved to VM Cable, we were promised that we could have caller id. The sales people were wrong (surprise, surprise) and it transpires that actually it is not available in our area (BN1) and the charge for the service has been refunded. 1471 works - so if they are able to read the incoming number why can't that information be transmitted to our caller id phone? I wonder if anyone can suggest a way of screening incoming calls in another way?

Re: Caller ID
Check out http://www.virginmedia.com/customers...main-guide.pdf
Call 1765 and it'll tell you which color code is relevant for your area and that'll enable you to see which servcies you can get

Re: Caller ID
In that guide, the colour coding doesn't cover caller id. It just says it is not available in all parts of the network.

Re: Caller ID
What a useful PDF document... never knew you could have call reminder service or the quick dial service.

Re: Caller ID
We were promised caller id too, but it is not in our area (Folkestone-CT20 postcode)
I can't understand why it isn't available-surely it's not that hard to enable?

Re: Caller ID
It's to do with the type of channel cards in the cabinet that your lines go through. They would have to be replaced/upgraded.

That's a fair point, but my cabinet was brand new as we were the first connected to it in 2007!!

Re: Caller ID
You were connected to the cabinet then or it was brand new then?
Either way, if the cards used in the cab don't support CLI..... (caller line ID)

Re: Caller ID
It was brand new then, we were the first connected to it as we moved and initially we couldn't take our virgin services with us, but they called us back and said a new cabinet install had just taken place so we could still have virgin services
