Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
I'm not saying it is Virgin's fault. What I am saying is that I thought I would just be able to connect my new modem, activate it, and that would be it. Buts not so. I have reverted back to my old modem, and whilst there were a few problems in connection, it is now running but not at 10mbs. Just have to accept that.

Sounds easy, doesn't it. Not so. See my post 1038. I spent well over half a day talking to India yesterday and although they activated my new modem, I could not connect, so after an hour or so, I asked them if I could re-connect to my previous modem, which they did, and that became a problem connecting too. But I think it was a problem with the IP address and after a bit of fiddling, I got it going this morning. But I guess I'll have to be happy with 5+ mbs's. At least it's double what I was getting before.

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Upgraded a few days ago it seems. Doesn't look good though, I've sometimes had only up to 7mbps, I guess this'll change in a few days time:

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Has anyone noticed that the small plastic spanner they supply with the new modems to tighten the nut doesn't fit the nut? Didn't matter in my case because I can't get the bl**dy thing to work anyway but just thought it was worth a mention

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Got an email a few days back about the 2-10 upgrade, so I click the link and follow the procedure and at the end it says I'll be getting it in the next couple of months.
So I click on http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginm.../timetable.php and Plymouth aint even listed, what's up with that??

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Hi guys
I'm in Area 28 and have been advised that I've been upgraded, however I'm still running at 2mb.
I've unplugged from the router but to no avail.
I've got a NTL200 Modem (I read somewhere on here that it would be Ok depending on firmware, can I check this?)
Hope someone can help.

Tech Support can confirm if you are actually on 10Mb if you call them.
Tech Support is open 24/7 on the numbers below.
For help with your TV or Phone and for Broadband Technical Support:
Call Product Support/Faults on 151 option 2 from your Virgin Media Phone. It's absolutely free.
Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line.

Cheers,
"Philip" sorted me out, refreshing the signal to modem from his end.
I'm flying now!

This is the best speed I can get, despite VM saying my modem is receiving 10mb. They did send me a new modem as I discussed on a previous post, but that didn't work at all, so I guess I'll have to be satisfied with this.

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Then I would phone them back and get a tech out to install the new modem. Complaning that the old one doesn't do the speed when they have said you need a new one is silly
