I'm not clued up on the in's and out's of this virus but whats the chances of everyone in the household getting it once one has ? I would of thought its high and isn't sending someone from the house to get the AV drugs risking spreading the infection further ?

Sorry if this has been asked or answered before. Its a very long thread and it would take to long to read through it all.

I'm not 100% sure but I would assume passport, driving licence, birth certificate, marriage certificate would be accepted, at a push maybe benefits book or work photo ID.

I wonder how many will actually take the antiviral when offered it? Don't think I would! Call me "Mr Paranoia" but no vaccine for me thank you.

Are you getting mixed up? the antiviral Tamiflu when taken within 2 days of symptoms slows the virus spreading through the body when taken as a preventative i provides a coating to the upper respiratory tract stopping infection taking ( I believe)

I've got a list of accepted documents, I'll post it in the morning. It's pretty extensive though.

I'll be okay if birth certificate and bank cards are on the list. Oh, and HMRC tax coding notices as well. I'd rather just not catch it in the first place, though I think it's bound to happen to most of us at some point.

Well I for one hope that this newspaper report isn't accurate.

I assume that the reason the majority of people will be contacting the centre is because think they, or a member of their family, have Swine Flu. If they are not reassured by, or helped by, the people manning the emergency swine flu call centres it will defeat the object of the centres as I am sure that the public will feel they have to double check with their GPs or go into A & E where they can be seen by a Doctor. I dread to think how the surgeries or hospitals could hope to function if they are swamped in such a way.

If I am unfortunate enough to have to contact the emergency centre I want Russ to answer the phone please.

Not surprisingly that article is a pile of horse ****. I have no idea if immigrants have been taken on but the requirement to speak English is paramount as that's the only language the advice will be available in. During training it was asked if other languages would be on offer and we were told no, as this is an emergency line which has been rushed out so as a result there will only be one language. Even if the operator can speak another language, they must only use English.

Anyway, for adults the accepted forms of identification are:

Full driving licence
Paid utility bill (not older than 6 months)
Building society/national savings book
Cheque guarantee/credit/debit card
Cheque book
Credit card statement (not older than 6 months)
Council tax payment book
Birth/marriage certificate
Passport/european ID card
Military ID
Standard acknowledgement letter issues by the Home Office for Asylum Seekers
Child Benefit letter
NHS card/number

And for children...

NHS card
Parent held record (red book)
Passport
Birth certificate.
