Try checking again in the evening, on the first day it often seems to be a bit weird.

Yeah they don't take the payment they just add it on to your next bill as it is I guess more efficient. I guess it also helps make the books look better for them too hehe.

Re: 50Mb areas

Is the 'upgrade your broadband' page working for anybody else? Trying to upgrade to 50mb but the link just times out, has been like this for two days
I dont want to ring CS as I want the self-installation package which they will not offer.

There is no self-install option for 50 meg. You'll have to ring them.

ps. Welcome to the forum!

Re: 50Mb areas

I wouldn't advise anyone to upgrade to 50 meg, had mine for around 12 days and the speeds are crap now, there is no over subscribing here i had a constant 20 meg for 19 months before this, its the fluctuating speeds that get on my nerves with it.

One minute it can be flying at 6mb/s then its down to 2mb/s at best for ages, i phone up there tech part and they say try the blue yonder demo site blah blah i try it and the speeds are crap, they say they have done something and then 30 mins later the speeds are gone.

My advice if you have a good connection DON'T rush and upgrade your service because 50mb is pants for usenet, using Astraweb is giving me speeds of 2800kbs, i just signed up to giganews free trial to see and hitting around 3900kbs( so giganews certainly faster out of the 2).

As a guide i just downloaded from the internet at 5900kbs doing a test file of 900meg, switch back to usenet and both providers only offering me the speeds i posted above so it certainly looks to me they are doing things to usenet.
