Re: Football Close Season Thread
Hi Russ CFT, l knew that you would transfer it too the football season thread, but is still not worth 80.million quid, no one is worth that amount of money - sorry.
The crazy world of football transfer fee's has to be stopped by the football authorities, we have in the news that there are several Scottish clubs on the verge of going bust becuase of Setanta, and then we hear this news, we have some clubs, well established and famous clubs like Southampton in financial trouble, this is what l am talking about, it is damn stupid, and something has to be done.

Their new president is worth something like £1.3 billion, i would hazard a guess thats where the moneys coming from.

I'd deffo say it wasn't coming out of his pocket, they'll make a few quid from sales but the bulk of it will come from preferential land deals brokered by the government, look at what happened last time they 'went bust', a supermarket decided to pay £330 million for their training ground

and Ribery will disrupt things just as much as Ronaldo, he doesn't seem to stay at a club for more than 2 seasons. Valencia hmm he ain't no Ronaldo.

I wouldn't be he has behaved really badly over this, I hope he wins nothing and Portugal fail to qualify for South Africa. The grass isn't always greener and Madrid have fickle fans

Real Madrid-bound winger Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to become one of the highest paid sports stars in the world.
The 24-year-old is expected to sign a six-year contract at the Bernabeu, which means by the final year he would be on £29m-a-year - or £557,000-a-week - which is reportedly 33 times what the average Spaniard earns. And this is in a country which is suffering from high unemployment of over 18%.

Around £16 million apparently. I would think he is definatley going to be a United player by the begining of next season.

A good signing imo if it happens , i don't expect Fergie to spend the full 80mill even if he could , Tevez i think is a gonner , David Villa would be a great signing , Ribery i think will go elsewhere , David Silva would also be a great signing imo. As said before no-one can replace Ronaldo , but no-one could replace Cantona , can't wait for the new season

FIFA president Blatter defends £80m Ronaldo fee
|
Speaking in South Africa ahead of the Confederations Cup, which is set to kick off on Sunday, the football supremo dismissed any fears over the Spanish giants' £80m bid for the Manchester United midfielder, insisting that it proved the game's ever-improving popularity.
"We are in a very sensitive market nowadays, because there is an economic crisis," he said. "But in football, if we are in a good market, it means that football is a good product, not just to buy or sell but a product that gives people what they want, which is emotions.

Premier League was only concerned with "making money"

Perez is already banging on about how many shirts with Kaka n Ronaldo Real will sell.
How does he get away with it? He is Anti English and has no place in power, Platini is a nutter but at least he has continued his "Big Money Killing The Game" by coming out against it.
