Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

Yes, the "surprise", beyond the HD channels launching, may be nothing to do with the tv side at all, ie network expansion or something else. There has been a lot of work done on the network over the last year.

Making more space for channels on the network available?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

I can't see them announcing network expansion unless they also announce something to fill it. Announcing extra capacity won't mean anything to 99.98% of VM customers

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

Hi Homealone, what is the point of having HD channels +1, if they are a repeat channel for the original channel, the customer is not gaining anything.

If VM gave us Sky Sports in HD or all the Sky channels in HD, now that would be something, but l doubt it very much, WE thats you and me, deserve better quality tv and HD for what we pay, we have been given ' promises' for months on this, and nothing is happening.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

+1 channels are very useful Arthur, whether in SD or HD, even if you have a PVR like the V+ box. It's not inconceivable that a telly addict may want to record more than is possible to do at one time due to scheduling conflicts ... the plus-ones give you another chance to catch it.

a bit OT but it seems the only channels without a +1 on them are the sports channels and this is where I always get my clashes. Now I know sport should be seen live which is prob why it isn't there at the moment, but these really could do with a +1.

The surprise could be getting the Red button on Sky Sports which is well overdue.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

The Red puppet is to do with the rebranding of Virgin 1.

i think they are only going to give that away to make themselves look better to OFCOM, plus I assume they will be charging VM a fair bit for it too

You have missed the point completely, answer me this - would you rather have no HD channels except for BBCHD, as at present, or several HD+1 channels?

- tell you what, you go ahead & refuse to have HD+1 channels because you believe you gain nothing - and you will end up with nothing - I'll take the HD+1 channels & , er, end up with the HD channels you keep whingeing on about, just an hour out of phase.

- do you ever read your posts back before hitting 'send'?

I would say anyone who needs such channels watches far, far too much TV. I barely watch a couple of hours of TV a week, and often watch no TV at all. It's wall to wall garbage.

Thats the funniest post I've read on here.

I'm guessing you despise the internet and don't use the demonic device we all call the "telephone" too?
