Cable TV fault (Long sorry)

Hi,

Had the phone from Virgin for a while now with no major problems, anyway just had the TV installed yestarday.

The point was already in situ from a previous tennant and was live so the tech came along with a Samsung SMT-2100C STB rigged it up, he used a pda type thing with a barcode scanner to read the barcode on the card and the cardboard box in which the stb came, some numbers started flashing up on the front of the stb and the green led stopped flashing and became solid.

Anyway after a few mintes he left saying it needed to download stuff. The box displayed the NTL??!! logo on screen for a while the changed to the Virgin logo where it has stayed ever since, the front display just shows "AP:52" and despite several re-boots that's as far as it ever gets.

I telephoned faults this morning and was told there may be an area fault but they wern't shore, unlikely though as a friends box works fine in another part of the city. I was then told a tech would have to call but not until Tuesday!!!

Has anyone got any ideas what may be causing this? Anything I can do instead of keep re-booting it and waiting until Tuesday?

Thanks for any input.

UPDATE:- Just nabbed a passing tech and it turns out the box had not been activated from head end, a quick call to HQ by him and it was fixed !! :-)

Now why couldn't 151 have sorted that ?

Glad to hear you are sorted even though you were given the run around.

Anyway look on the bright side, your problem resulted in you finding us.
