Re: Football : Season 08/09
Winalot were ready to sign a multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Liverpool until they realised how inappropriate their name would look on the team shirts....

Well actually, and I am not saying this is the case, it is easier to say your team underperformed than you were outplayed. The former suggests it was an off-day and can be improved, the latter concedes that Barcelona were the better side and are the best team in the world.

I think there's always a large element of luck when it comes to KO tournaments; especially the one-legged final. At least it was settled by one of the teams outperforming the other rather than penalties, dodgey refereeing or an individual error.
From the neutral's perspective I thought it was an excellent game; both sides play football the way I like it to be played.
I'm usually an admirer of Carrick but I thought he looked overwhelmed. He hardly made a tackle and persistenly misplaced or overhit passes. I don't know if he had an off night or the Barca midfield totally unsettled him.

Yeah, why not
Rafael Benitez: "Our new Winger cost five million. I call him our wonder player"
Sir Alex Ferguson: "Why's that?"
Rafael Benitez: "Everytime he plays I wonder why I bothered to buy him!"

Ah, Liverpool ... that would be the team that beat Man U. twice as many times as Barca did this season?

Denial is a wonderful thing. It'll help you cope better with having been comprehensively dismantled last night. The domestic season this year was a bit closer than a lot of you wannabe-Mancunians like to admit. I wouldn't hold out too much hope of actually bettering Liverpool's league title haul any time soon.

I hope Wenger buys some of those players last night (Barcelona's players of course). Maybe just buy the entire team...

Banter and jokes aside I don't know how Liverpool fans can gloat at Man Utd fans today in a serious manner. There's a guy at work doing it. You'd think that 2nd place is better than winning the Premiership.
I was disappointed yesterday. I watched a woeful display by Utd, it was a bit like watching Newcastle against Villa. I don't know what happened, but they all looked a bit overwhelmed by the occassion, and I felt sorry for Fergie - in that his players didnt respond.
And no, I'm not a Utd fan.

United won 3 half-trophies and 1 big one as well as CL runners up. Liverpool, as has been the case for 4 years, won nothing. Liverpool can push it all they want but consistently for 19 years they've failed when it matters most.
Not much denial in that.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
I am still annoyed at when Evra called Arsenal babies! Saying that it was like 11 men against 11 babies, well I think that's an apt description of what happened yesterday.

Ah, so 'CL runners up' is notable for Man U., but Liverpool, despite being Premiership runners up, in your estimation 'won nothing'. That sounds like a fair and unbiased assessment.
And isn't it funny how we can take two decades off and now you're only just on level pegging with league titles?

Thats because Liverpool fans take more joy in seeing United lose then they do in seeing their own team win.
