why not just a normal rollout like they did before? having to opt in will mean that possibly thousands will never know.

Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
I have a NTL:Home 100 modem, which I suspect is getting quite old, well it is at least 4 years old, but I suspect it is 6 years old. I suspect this one is not suitable, so if I am supplied a new modem, will I be on a new contract?

Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
Company techs are being advised to take equipment with them whenever they can now, its all about money saving and whatnot.
Not entirely sure what they do with the modems, though, as they wouldn't send them out to customers again?

Well, if it stops them being reflashed and sold in pubs, surely it's a good thing. (unless it's the techs doing it).

okey so i get my new modem in the post unpack and install . Dial Virgin to register it so is this where the Fun Starts what do i need to know what to say to whoever probably in India and will it work properly as mine already does and did on 10.
Oh and I still will not get the 10MB When i change the modem Will I ? Come on
now its not going to happen same time is it ? i just wonder what would happen
now ive registered and dont change the modem Because i know this one is ok
I belong to the "IF IT ISNT BROKE DONT FIX IT " and mine isnt Broke school .
First and formost its an upgrade of Modem nothing to do with the Change of speed
most people who signed up with NTL Have perfectly Able modems.

If you don't change the modem and Virgin then change how they deliver the connection to you, it is likely you WILL get cut off.
At the end of the day it is Virgin that decided what modem/STB is used to provide services - so if they say you need the new one, you need the new one!

I was wondering this as i have registered for the early upgrade and was told I need a new modem, although i know mine is capable of 10meg. So you're saying i should change the modem over as they told me to anyway, even if i dont technically need it at the moment (unless they change the way they deliver the connection)

Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
Basically yes - if Virgin say you need a new modem then you need a new modem
