Opinions please (aka calling Captain Zing)
I'm putting this in the local paper and am hoping to get around a ton for the following.....
AMD Sempron 3400 processor (tower)
2GB Ram (was 1gb)
160gb HD
Onboard Nvidia graphics
6 USB ports
CDR drive
DVD burner drive
15" flatscreen monitor
It's a built system and when I bought it I replaced the HD and added 1gb ram.
Am I aiming a bit high?

Is that zing-speak for "Yes you're punching above your weight but someone will probably pay it"?

I do that regardless of whether the acquired machine/drive was formatted by the previous owners or not.Straight in with a live/gparted CD.....unless i`m asked to recover any data from the machine/drive that is.

[Apologies to Russ for staying off topic for a little while.....]
I take it you're using dd to wipe the drives if you're using a live Linux distribution?

I do use dd but usually because of bad partitions/installations and not purely because of the security/privacy concerns of passing on a drive.
The reality is that most of the people that would ever end up with any drive/machine through me would never be doing the kinda stuff they`d need to to recover data from the freshly formatted(OS re-installed) drive in the first place....not that the drives in question would ever have had much in the way of sensitive data in the first place.
Most can barely find their own data let alone the previous owners data underneath as it were.

Now that strikes a chord.
Still don't think you can get much better than:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/<your_drive_here>
Always gives me a warm glow
