lost connection probable fault
I have lost connection since 2:30 am this morning, (posting from mobile).
The strange thing is, the modem is syncing and the signal levels look good and then 'DS channel override in cfg file, re-scanning downstream' (then starts looking for another downstream)
Is this what it looks like?
Has the cfg file for 20Mbit on the 256 at the tftp server been changed for the upgraded one before the upgrade has been done? Faults say there isn't a fault logged in our area (SO30) but it probably is a network fault.

Re: lost connection probable fault
The power levels look fine for the brief time that it's synced. The lights never get to the point where the ready is flashing.
I have an engineer provisionally booked for monday. (earliest I could get)
Typing information in from my mobile is a bit difficult as the browser doesn't handle text areas properly so I'm mostly typing blind. So I'm sorry if this looks like gibberish.

I just got a text telling me that there is a fault in my area (it's been going on since 2:30). So hopefully a resolution will be soon.

You're locking to a standard VXR CMTS as per your modem remembering the last frequency it locked to and reacquiring, then being kicked over to a next generation CMTS and a DOCSIS 3 bonded group on a 10k or BSR but are unable to lock to it.
Either the next generation CMTS or eQAM is not functioning or the config has been deployed prematurely to your area and there's no next-gen CMTS to sync to yet

TBH that's what I thought it meant. It's still doing it btw.
It's probably something stupid like a neighboring region that shares a tftpd has been upgraded and they thought they'd change the file over.
Either way they still haven't fixed it. The modem is still syncing on one of the old channels and being redirected to a new one that doesn't exist.
8 hours my arse.

Re: lost connection probable fault
Well, just called faults again, got through to an asian gentleman that asked me to repeat everything 3 times because he couldn't understand me.
He told me that there is no fault and proceeded to read through the usual checklist. I ended up hanging up before he could tell me I needed to plug it into a windows machine or some other crap.
Will try again in a bit.

Re: lost connection probable fault
Well, I tried a few times and got an indian call centre each time, the last time I tried, there's a notice up stating that there is a fault in our area and engineers are working on it. (all I wanted to know).
So hopefully it'll all be back up soon.

Re: lost connection probable fault
Well apparently not, I just spoke to a nice man in India (fourth one I spoke to, first one who could understand me, well I needed to read out the postcode 3 times, and then he still got it wrong.) after going through the power cycling modem etc. He told me there is an area fault and it's expected to be fixed at 11:30 tonight. The message telling about the fault has gone away, and there isn't even a hold period (SO30) I'm guessing everyone is going through to India atm.

Re: lost connection probable fault
Yay, more than 2 days without service. I wonder if I'll get any luck today. Maybe even speak to someone who isn't in India.

Re: lost connection probable fault
Ive got/having a similar problem in the RM11 area of Essex - only way to get any information is to randomly call India until someone with half a brain can tell me about an area fault before they try to get me to start disconnecting power supplies...
The VM website hasn't even mentioned a fault in my area... yet the phone says it was covering at least 5 postal districts...

Re: lost connection probable fault
Yay, got through to someone in Liverpool and now I've finally got my connection back. The modem has synced on the wrong channel (2 here, one gives very good figures other one doesn't) and I'm getting packet loss, but I have an internet connection again.
