Re: Windows BSOD.... Can someone help please ??
memory dumps can be a number of problems...
First id test the system memory using memtest x86.
if that passes then id do a scan disk make sure theres no bad clusters on the hard disk, if not then try reinstalling windows as it could have corrupted.

What has changed - added any drivers recently? (Maybe a driver for the camcorder on your desk )
Stop 0x0A is afaik normally a software/driver issue, rather than hardware.

I hae recently formatted because of this issue. but still got it after i did that. I've upgraded my graphics driver to the latest as with all the other drivers. My sys specs are
E6550 CPU
4gb ddr2 ram (i know it only sees 3gb) which is fairly new
2x 8800gs in SLI mode
500gb, 250gb, 80gb, 80gb HDD
P5N-E SLI mobo
---------- Post added at 21:54 ---------- Previous post was at 21:46 ----------
actually scrap the SLi mode. I have them installed correctly but just running in single mode as when i enable SLI mode and start Left4Dead Game it will crash almost instantly.

Re: Windows BSOD.... Can someone help please ??
Could be the graphics ram? I had this recently on a dell machine - turned out to be a RAM dimm but it passed all mem tests ok so don't take mem tests as gospel, best to try a known good chip... or at least take one out at a time and see if it is ok on just one stick (presuming u have 2x2gb sticks in)

Re: Windows BSOD.... Can someone help please ??
Well you'd have to remove 3 and keep 1 in and test for approx 1hr of normal use for each stick

Re: Windows BSOD.... Can someone help please ??
but see thats the thing...it can run for a couple of days without getting the BSOD and sometimes i can get it a couple of times a day. memtest been running 42 min with no errors.
If it comes back with no errors i will do as you suggested and run 1 stick at a time and play the game as much as i can. But it's going to take a long time to find the 1 bad stick if there is one.
---------- Post added at 22:26 ---------- Previous post was at 22:22 ----------
just looked at the memory on this PC which has 2x 2gb installed. I may just swap them over and see if i still get the BOSD. Probably the easiest thing to do.
---------- Post added at 22:29 ---------- Previous post was at 22:26 ----------
Should i stop memtest now and just stick the other memory in and see how it goes ? been running now 50 min now. 1 pass with no errors

Re: Windows BSOD.... Can someone help please ??
could be early signs of a failing mobo if you had it pre a format and still after one. What sort of temps is it running? do you smoke? is it clean inside the case?

Re: Windows BSOD.... Can someone help please ??
dont know what the cpu temp is at the moment but the case temp is 33c. I do smoke but only outside. And i keep the inside blown out so it's pretty clean insdie the case.
I actually need a new mobo and case tbh. I used to have my speakers plugged into the front until my daughter stepped on the lead and broke it so i went to put it into the mobo and a piece broke off inside the hole and now that doesn't even work which resulted in me buying a PCI soundcard.
---------- Post added at 22:46 ---------- Previous post was at 22:44 ----------
right going to switch the ram in the pc's and try that. Failing that i will replace the mobo as it need replacing anyways as the onboard sound is knackered
---------- Post added at 23:06 ---------- Previous post was at 22:46 ----------
ok...memory switch with 2x 2gb running in dual channel mode so here i come Left4Dead

Re: Windows BSOD.... Can someone help please ??
no BSOD yet but like i said earlier. It may not come for a couple of days. I think i am going to do a format over the weekend also and get rid of one of my GPU's as they still wont work in SLI.
Will update when i know more
