Enabling network connection leads to bluescreen

Hello everyone,

before switching to a different antivirus, I decided to take my computer off the web. Instead of removing the cable from my computer, I decided to disable the network connection.

Being done with the re-install, I wanted to enable the network connection again. It seems to be loading, but after a few seconds I get a blue screen and my computer reboots.

I tried to install a new network connection via the wizard. This seems to be working, but a new connection is not displayed.

Also - deleting the old connection is not possible.

I tried to restart the sytem in safe mode with network drivers enabled. This option doesn't really work for me right now, as I have a parallel install of Windows 7 running, which somehow does not allow me to boot XP in safe mode. I'd therefore be grateful for an idea that does not require to boot in safe mode.

Any ideas on how I can get my network connection running again?

Can you try exiting and coming out of your antivirus software alltogether and then renabling it?
Then restart the antivirus. See if that works ?

Try booting into Safe Mode (Pressing F8 after BIOS and before the XP loading screen appears). Then try enabling the connection.

Try using the Ms config utility, Start, Run type in . msconfig. then select boot ini tab, and then select SAFEBOOT \ MIN.

That way should work.

After unsuccesfully trying to find solutions for the problem indicated in my BSOD, I reinstalled my network driver and stuff worked out just fine.

Aye you've got it there... when it comes to problems after installing new applications or drivers, the best thing to do is revert back to your previous state. So uninstall the application you just did install or more significantly rollback drivers say for your network card in the Device Manager, in Admin tools -> computer management.

Driver 'Rollback' only keeps the 1 version ago drivers, so don't get excited and install lots of different drivers trying to fix problems like this. if you install new drivers and they fail, rollback and install another set - don't install stragiht away.
