I'm glad this thread popped up again as I have been looking at this for several weeks now. I have set the preferences for 5 mins padding at the end of programs with the preference set for series linked programs to record but over and over again I see no padding on programs at all. Two programs on last Sunday from 9-10pm on 2 different channels and they both finished at 10pm, nothing else was recording before, or after these 2 programs but the padding did not work. Occasionally the padding works but more often than not it does not. It's also really annoying when the box starts recording after the program has started, should you really have to set padding at the start and end of every program just to make sure that it all records?!
In fact we can't really add all this padding as it would probably would not work that often and would mean that many more clashes would prevent recordings being set up?
What I have found since posting the original query is that sometimes the V+box "forgets" about the padding. I guess this happens as a result of a poorly constructed software update. What has worked for me then is a combination of reprogramming the padding (in my case, I pad 2 minutes before and 5 minutes after), and then deleting and reinstating any 'series' (because I have also found that the padding only applies to new recordings - any recordings that already exist are not affected by changes to the padding). well, that was the advice i was given today
"it is a known issue, which we are working on, with no fix yet"
i deleted some of my series and tried to relink them, but now i have recordings scheduled for last week!! It hasn't had any effect on the padding - still none.
