Re: second v+ box

There is no legal way of getting onto VM's network without using VM supplied equipment. VM still own the equipment so if you were to buy one from ebay you would be handling stolen goods.

Re: second v+ box

Can you buy from eBay?

Yes, under a very rare set of circumstances, i.e. where the seller has paid Virgin Media a fee of £250 for not returning the box and has received confirmation from Virgin Media that they are then allowed to do what they like with the box. Any other circumstance, then no, you can't.

Will it work?
Depending on what you mean by "work":
- Will it consume electricity? Yes.
- Will it work to charge your iPod / Phone from the USB port? Yes.
- Could it be used to hold a door open? Yes.
- Will it work receiving cable television and enable PVR functionality? No.

Re: second v+ box

Two very good answers, which I don't think leave any need for further discussion.

The answer is that the only way to legally obtain service from Virgin Media is to contract with them for that service, at which point they will provide you with the equipment that you need.
