lol, well i have always had that problem no matter which connection i have had. Over time i think it has been 512*128, 1mbit*256, 1.5mbit*356, 10mbit*512 and 20*756. Although i loved the increase download speed I always said i wanted the faster connection for the increased upload speed, it saves so much time. Upload time isnt a problem because I leave my pc on while I zzzzzz anyway.

Pretty glad i dont have that problem, can jump on a torrent, download it, usually have 2:1 by the time it's done, burn it off and delete ready for next download

Re: 50Mb areas

5mbit would be great, I am just waiting for Preston North to be upgraded to 50mbit (I am actually in Blackpool but for some reason I am classed as being in Preston North).

Has anyone with done a speed test with 50mbit with commerical newsgroups? What speed do you get off them? And in specific what speed do you get with 50mbit if you are using Astraweb newsgroup hostings?

Re: 50Mb areas

I use Giganews, I don't seem to max it, but I am connecting wirelessly. I have and generally get between 3.5-4.5MB.

I have heard that VM don't take to kindly to downloading via Newsgroups.

Re: 50Mb areas

I have seen on the internet that the hackers have got 50mb working on docsis 1.1 on ambit

I thought this was meant to be sorted?!?

I post all the details but it seems most of the ambit's can handle 35mb-38mb

That could explain why the internet was done for two hours between 12am and 2am for the last two days in Bishop's Stortford

Watford and Bishops Stortford? Wayhay! Seems they are closing in on Hemel Hempstead!

---------- Post added at 10:02 ---------- Previous post was at 09:57 ----------

Can someone in the know start a master list of enabled uBRs?

This way, anyone who has missed anything can see how the rollout is proceeding!
