is my router on it way out ?

Hi,

I have a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 and it seems to sometime block FTP port for a range all by it self, and I have to reboot the router.

Is the router on the way out ?

Re: is my router on it way out ?

You could try a backup, complete wipe and restore before writing it off completely.

Hi,

Do you mean backup router config, then do a factory restore and restore the config ?

Re: is my router on it way out ?

Yep. If you can, plug in an ethernet cable or you will have to rejoin the wireless as all security settings will be lost before you do the restore.

It's also worth noting down your settings just in case the restore fails, but it's always been fine for me.

Re: is my router on it way out ?

It is getting worse.
Yestarday it dropped the connection and said an ethernet lead been unplugged the only way to get net back was to plug it into another socket on the back of the router and reboot it.

My new router will be the free one for Virgin Media as I am getting 50mb fitted and router. Hope that ones better for a while then I can by a new one of my choice.
