Re: Football : Season 08/09
Lets hope that tomorrow's Carling Cup is a good game, and to all those Man Utd fans out there, have a great day.
My prediction of the score; Man Utd 1 Spurs 1 HT
FT Man Utd 3 Spurs 4
It would be that score, being a Yid, but l have a feeling that Spurs will bring out that Cup spirit that they are known for.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harry puts out a weakened Spurs squad, since he's focusing on the league rather than trophies.
I don't expect Spurs to win, United have been on excellent form, and are hard to beat, even by Europe's best.

If it was the FA Cup then Spurs would have exactly the same chance as United. But the League Cup....can't see Spurs pulling that one off.

Why do you think that? I think United would have the same chance if not more so as they would be more likely to be motivated.

There's something very different about an FA Cup game. It's the tournament where a non-league side can dump a premiership team out. It's the magic and unpredictability of the FA Cup. The League Cup just does not have that mistique.
I can't describe it but it's as if the fact a game is in the world's greatest domestic football tournament that evens the odds a lot more.
When it comes to the early rounds of the FA Cup I'd much rather United draw one of the other big 3 clubs than a lower-league side. The underdogs have nothing to lose and everything to play for. I used to hate it 10 years ago when United always used to get picked to play Wimbledon. A team full of superstar internationals and they'd still beat us.
I don't think anything is ever certain in an FA Cup game. If United lost to a lower league team in that tournament I would be disappointed but not too disheartened - it's the nature of the FA Cup.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
I know it might be sad to say, If Spurs are winning, l can see Utd putting the big guns, ie Ronaldo on, and doing his usual( and please don't think l am having a go, this is serious stuff now), and we end up losing. due to a penalty or something.
I have been a Yid for 30 years, and l CANNOT see us winning, due to the wording of Harry, he is concentrating on the League and nothing else, if that is confidence of a manager, you might as well give up.

If Spurs are winning and Utd get a penalty and score (assuming it's one nil or whatever), that would make it all square surely?
Lets hope it is a good game worthy of a cup final and the best team wins on the day !!

Also, United have been near unstoppable this season and if they play at half their usual effort it will still outgun Spurs who have been playing well below par this season?
Might also be something to consider..

I am more than happy being that little team from Salford
Based on us turning up the morrow, I am going 3-0 or 3-1. I think Spurs have bigger fish to fry (League Cup Final v Prem Safety) and although both teams will chop n change, if I can put my "Rose Tinted Specs" on for a moment, our kids are a lot better than Spurs kids, hey they where already on, and I can't get them off
I like the League Cup, it was dying a death a few years back, Fergie got slammed for dropping the big names, but once everyone realised it is a squad game these days, it has given it a new purpose. You get a break from the Prem, blood some kids, get a midweek game out of it, some shock results. It's become it's own little entity, it will never get above the FA Cup, but it is a better competition than it was when it was changing sponsors every season.
I will be gutted if we don't win it. Can't wait.
