1628: Failed to complete installation
Im trying to install the patch for CoD5:W@W.....it's the 1.2 patch but when I run the .exe I get the above error message.
It appears to be a problem between my PC and the installshield software......I have tried the online fixes (stopping running installer processes, deleting temp files) but still get that error.......
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 1628: Failed to complete installation
rammy i have posted on the clan forum but here it is again
link for patch
http://www.gamershell.com/download_38968.shtml
try downloading it again if it won't install then i would suggest a backup of your game save and try possibly reinstalling cod 5, also you could try something else that uses the windows installer see if you get the same error if you don't then i would say it's the patch, if you do then you have broke your pc or it's like above getting it's own back for the rammy moments.

Re: 1628: Failed to complete installation
you could always try running the 1.1 patch again see what that says, if it works fine then download from where i said as it worked fine for me just like the one on the clan forum did for other people, only other thing i could suggest is that if you have the system restore option enabled try restoring to a earlier point and see what happens.

Re: 1628: Failed to complete installation
Right, google is your friend
Taken from here:

this seems to be particular to xp-64bit. Seems we finally found the solution.
Right click the file, select Run as... Administrator. Then enter password.
Although you may already be running as Admin, you still have to do this.
AND if you have no password set, you need to create one under user accounts. Then go through the steps listed above. Good luck and happy killing!!
