Desktop Radio Broadcaster issues....

Hey guys.

I have run a regular online radio station for some years now, but since starting with Virgin Media Wireless, I keep getting a FAILED TO BROADCAST message across the scree (Attached)

Anybody got any idea how to resolve the attached error message?

The broadcaster settings are as they should be: TCP Port 80

I am still using the same PC with Win XP Pro

If you're using a wireless router then I'm going to guess it's got NAT and/or a firewall built in.

If that's the case then the answer to your question can most likely be found in the instructions given in the screenshot you provided.

Er....thnx for that, but the manual(?) that came with the router tells you how to get connected to Virgin, and NOTHING else! (Its only 4 pages long, step-by-step.
My firewall is allowing acess both directions, but the same message keeps appearing on startup, and a live listing of availalbe stations does not list mine...

You need to enable port forwarding within the router - by the looks of it you will need to forward port 80 through the router to the IP address of the machine that your software is on (probably best if you assign a static IP address to that machine to save having this problem again down the line).

I can't help with how to configure the router I'm afraid, but I would hope that the instruction manual that came with it would tell you how to get into the admin control panel.

With a bit of luck someone should be along soon enough who has experience with the wireless routers VM issue - it would be useful if you could post the model name/number.

It is a Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router supplied by Virgin.
The manual, or lack of it, simply tells you to insert cd, follow onscreen instructions to setup wireless broadband, then reminds you to remove cd!
There is no other info!

Ok, in that case you probably ought to have a look at:

Then have a look at the firmware version (probably on a sticker underneath somewhere) and download the manual from one of the pages linked from here:

You should be able to get information from the manual about port forwarding, if it doesn't make much sense try having a look here:

Where you should be able to find your device, and some half decent instructions on how to get it set up.

I don't know if Virgin will have changed the username and password, if not the default ones will be listed in the instruction manual.

You should set up the wireless security (unless you're not using wireless, in which case turn the wireless off) and change the admin password as well whilst you're poking around.

If you can't make head or tail of any of the above post back with a version number (if there is one) and I'm sure someone can help you through it.

Well, thnx for all your help guys.
I have used PFConfig which did it all for me, but still nothing seems to be happening!
I no longer get the error message, which would suggest all is well, but even though I get a LIVE broadcast icon running, the station doesn't appear in the listings live updates....
Thats a problem for soneone else I suppose.

Ok, an update...............
Router now er.....re-routed!!

Station is broadcasting, listed in the online directories and......... all I get is an "Attempting connection" message for ever!
