Netgear WNB2100 "N" Wireless router

Hi

I am being connected on Tuesday to VM 10meg and hopefully will be up and running then

I have come across the above router and USB dongle for the measly price of £61 plus p & p for sale in the uk. brand new

I am thinking of selling the router supplied by VM on e bay and setting the one above up first off to avoid any conflicts as i like netgear and thought the price is right for this

So has anyone used this set up before router/dongle

do you know if its compatable with xbox 360 live

i intend to hard wire one pc/xbox360 and wireless notebook

anyhelp would be appreciated

Re: Netgear WNB2100 "N" Wireless router

Before you try and sell the VM supplied Router, Check that it is supplied to you in a manner that means it is your legal right to sell. You will also need to make clear that it is configured with Virgin Firmware so may not operate on anything else.

Wired connections for networking should be compatible with any piece of kit that has ethernet ports pre installed. These should effectively be plug and play. It's wireless that is more fun, due to the security settings, or USB in case the software glitches.

The VM routers are not allowed to be sold - they remain the property of Virgin Media

Your right Rob just read my contract and the router remains the property of VM at all times

Ok no big deal just leave it in the cupboard for ever and a day just thought i would make a bob or two

Yes people do sell them on Ebay and they are selling to all intents and purposes stolen property, but it gets better all these routers come preconfigured with Embedded Virgin Firmware onboard which is virtually impossible to remove without bricking the router and if you ring Netgear for support they will tell you no can do as they do not support the Firmware and Virgin will not help even if you are a customer because it is not listed on your equipment page.

So if you buy one from Ebay then I would say "Caveat emptor" or in English "Let the buyer beware" as you may end up with a worthless lemon.
