Yep I noticed that, what was it Berkett said "3 or 4 HD channel in the next 3 months", that was at the back-end of 2008 so like most people I reckoned on the end of March.
Have you anymore news on the HD channels Media Boy? and the statement that "VM hope to have some HD channels on air by the end of summer 2009", is this merely a Virgin aspiration or is it happening?
The deafening silence about the upcoming HD channels has had me concerned for a while now, and yet again it looks like VM have dropped the ball.
Add to this we seem to be getting even less HD on VOD, stupidly I assumed this was because of the upcoming launch of HD channels, huh wrong again...come on Virgin pull your finger out and please, please is it too much to ask to keep us informed?

Good to see that British Eurosport (Ch 520) is broadcasting in Widescreen at last.

'cos it cost money. Money which they ain't going to get back with the pocketful of HD users out there.
There is HBO HD and BBC HD at the moment. When the markets are more stable then look out

Would everyone just calm down about the HD channels. Virgin have said within Q1. This is only the 11th Feb. If they have not put any on by the end of March then start complaining. Just because Media Boy has said that it may be summer time you are taking this as gospel. Has this come from Virgin Media?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
yep, british eurosport is now widescreen. 576x544 though. 4mbps bitrate instead of 2mbps bitrate so picture so look quite alot better.
eurosport 2 is still fullscreen though, hopefully they will air that in widescreen and higher bitrate like they have done with british eurosport.
took them long enough, eurosport hd has been out for 4months+ should have been done straight away really, better late than never though

HBO == "Home BoxOffice" (VOD)
so not actually a channel but a VOD section

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
704 or 720x576 would have been much preferable. 544 is less than ideal. Widescreen and a much less stingy bitrate is really good news though.

More pixels better quality, ah gotcha... ta!
Anyone know what Sky sports and BBC is? I'm a big tennis watcher and found the w/screen quality on both pretty good...is W/screen Eusosport roughly the same?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Yes. Comparable over time. Freeview http://dtt.me.uk/
and satellite http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/sa..._bit_rates.php
BBC1 and Sky Sports have that or higher. Bitrates aren't the be all, there is a set of well known sports channels that shall remain nameless that also has a similarly high bitrate and it looks pants .
