This was the reason I asked. He/She knew about tomorrow, so maybe he/she could use their inside knowledge. I had read the other posts..

Re: 50Mb areas
Sometimes we are given the heads up a day or 2 before it is available.
50Mb XXL will be available in the following areas from 5 February 2009:
Bolton
Solihull
Lambeth
Sheffield
Stoke
Leeds
50Mb XXL service is also available in:
Dudley
Warrington
Liverpool
New York (Newcastle)
Hayes
Wigan
Croydon
Bradford
Wolverhampton
Walsall
Dundee
Glenrothes
Linlithgow
Uddingston
Huddersfield
Belfast
Peterborough
Lewisham
Gateshead
Maidstone
Bristol
Also fed up reading about people moaning about install fees and activation fees. If you want the service, pay the price. If you don't want it, don't pay the price. Just wait until BT have renewed their infrastructure in 2013, and see wht they can do for you.

This is a forum, people have the absolute right to complain about the installation charge if they wish. Just a note when complaining about the content of the forum in your first post

Re: 50Mb areas
Thaks for being my mentor there. As you can see I have been a member ( mainly sitting on the outside, looking in) for 2 years so I do have some idea of how a Forum operates. However it does seem to me, that people just like to moan for the sake of moaning. How about some constructive suggestions, instead of just dissing everything that is written here.
I'm sure they are getting an absolutely wonderful service from their current providers, at absolute bargain basement prices, all installed free of charge.
My point is, do they all haggle when they go to ASDA to do their weekly shop, or do they just pay the price on the label? VM are a business, not a charity, just as SKY, BT, O2 etc, etc, are businesses. Like a loaf of bread, a service has a price on it, you either buy it or you don't.

Re: 50Mb areas
Sure, here's a suggestion, give people an option to have the router or not, to have an engineer or not.
£50 taken off for no router.
£30 for no engineer.
Of course some people wouldn't be happy if you gave them fibre to the arse and paid them for the privilege but the lack of flexibility is silly.
The whole haggling thing is different altogether, but giving people options on both the router and the engineer would be good. If people don't have the kit to take advantage of the 50Mbit tough for them.

Re: 50Mb areas
I know this will probably get a few people's backs up, but at the launch of a product I would much rather Virgin forced people to at least have the kit they know that works.
If Virgin had launched with a BYO option in regards to the router, I would not be surprised if there ended up being loads of threads on here and other forums complaining about the speed, and how Virgin can't fix it, that turned out to be because of the router rather than anything else.
At least by providing and end-to-end solution, Virgin *should* be able to more easily identify any hardware issue seperate from any network issue

Click the connection tab above. If you see 'azte' in the details, result!
In my case I see 82-43-120-x.cable.ubr02.mort.blueyonder.co.uk - the bit before blueyonder.co.uk is where you'll see azte, or not.
The following probably have a bit more of a wait:
Staple Hill [Chapel]
Hawkfield
Nailsea
Bath
Trowbridge
Staverton
It's done a site at a time, and these are on their own hubsites, while azte / Aztec West serves Bristol and immediately surrounding.
