Re: [Merged] Snow!
bah - we have had no more snow. the street sweepers did appear at 7am after me sweeping the pavement, but I did have to ask them to do the path next to the shops (duh) as opposed to the one just around the square
gritters did appear yesterday afternoon and did the rounds several times, but by the time I went to work at 5.30pm there was no evidence of it at all!? maybe they had a blockage or had run out of grit,

Re: [Merged] Snow!
Nothing overnight here, and most of the snow from yesterday is gone.
The sun's out, and it's a bright new day

Re: [Merged] Snow!
Just taken a look at the closed schools list..all bar one of the town's secondary schools are closed.Well that answers why I'm not getting any offers of work...Not that I'd have an easy job of getting anywhere with no transport.
I may just go back to bed...

Now this is snow!!! 6 inches of it in Port Talbot!
The first pic is what we had yesterday, the blueish one was taken earlier this morning.

Re: [Merged] Snow!
It thawed enough last night to reduce our coverage to around 8" from 10+" thick. However the overnght frost has made the side roads and paths extremely slippery even though most busier roads seem OK. Most have made it to the office today, with a notable eceptioin so far of one of the bosses. On the other hand if you had a Porshe, would you try driving in ice, they are uncontrollable at the best of times They can't even be bothered to get the trains running properly, or even at all on the local line, and the schools remains shut, maybe he's got a good excuse.
Now to see what happens as temperatures rise a bit. There's a hint of the occasional flurry, but nothing that's going to make any difference. Indeed it's so sunny out there you need protection from the glare.
We're told this lot has cost the economy a small fortune. We're also told that we can't plan for a once in 20 years event. But the reality is that every time it snows or get's freezing cold things grind to a halt. We aren't a third world country (although the way Gordon Brown is spending our money propping things up we could well become one when he bankrupts us), so we should be able to do better, especially when one looks at the balance sheet of losses versus expenditure.

I want it to snow some more. We need more snow. I've done the snowman, but I now need more snow to build his wife and children.

Is it just me, or does the speed limit sign in the first picture look photoshopped in?

Re: [Merged] Snow!
Perhaps the camera had the flash on and the sign is showing it's reflective properties

It'sd probably the bounce off the flash.

Re: [Merged] Snow!
The sign has definitely caught the camera flash, and has then fallen victim to the fairly high degree of JPEG compression that has been applied to the picture.
