Damien like i said it only is visible when in the dark, its like three think rays of light coming through...I cant even see it in a normal room, but say at night it does pester me...I dont know maybe Im nit-picking too much...
I do have an apple store near me (bluewater), however I bought it from o2, but because I like apples customer service more, will apple replace the phone even though I bought off o2?

Still didn't notice anything.
And I'm a bit of a paranoid obsessive compulsive, so I *really* checked

You can go with either O2 or Apple.
As you bought it off O2, your contract is with them (the retailer) under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended), & it is their legal obligation to ensure that the goods are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, conform to contract etc.
http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/cons...page38311.html
But you also have a manufacturer's warranty with Apple, which is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer. If you take the manufacturer's warranty route, I believe that you give up the right to later claim against the retailer for any subsequent faults.
When I got my old SE P900 off O2 way back in 2003 (I think), the first one was faulty. I just got it swapped out at the O2 shop.

Just checked mine in a dark room - no light leakage at all.

Right, so the iPhone comes with the USB power adaptor thing, which has two parts:
1) The actual power adaptor, with the figure of 8 connector on one side & the USB port on the other.
2) UK plug adaptor to connect to the figure of 8 on the USB thing.
The main USB bit says it works with 100-240V & 50-60Hz, but the UK plug bit says only 250V & 50Hz.
So, I assume I can't simply whack a travel adaptor on the UK plug part, to make it a US plug?
As the USB adaptor bit itself is universal, can you buy a US plug for it on its own? Or do you have to spend ££££ buying the Apple travel kit which seems to come with every kind of plug imaginable?
|
Yes your assumption is correct. Or you can get a US 2 pin (prong really) plug to figure of 8 cable and plug that into the iPod adapter in place of the UK plug bit.

re: The iPhone thread
So I can't stick a US plug travel adaptor onto the UK plug part?
I may have a US plug / figure of 8 lead knocking around somewhere...hmm, actually, may be a US plug / "kettle" lead.
Oh well. The wife's 3rd party iPod charger should work I think. UK plug on it, but it's rated for 100-240V & 50-60Hz.

Yes you can. I've been here over 2 years and still have a pile of things with travel adaptors stuck on the end of them. Mainly portable electronics with moulded 3pin transformers that are 100-250v 50-60hz compatible. iPod charger just like yours, bluetooth headset, cellphone charger (well my latest phone is a european spec k850i so that is a twin round pin to two blade).
I was highlighting the alternative as the travel plug > 3 pin > iPod charger is a long and end heavy collection of plugs and does not sit in the wall very well.
When my Apple AirPort Express bricked itself I pulled the adaptor off that and put it on my iPod charger. Much better.

re: The iPhone thread
Well I guess Iphone wasnt for me - the lack of buttons when texting made it difficult, 2mp camera, no video recording, I felt restricted in what I could do - I couldnt even choose an mp3 ringtone straight out the box - although one of the apps called Remote - now thats handy.
I have now gone for the c905 from cpw on o2 18 months - but have just seen a better deal from dialaphone on 12 month contract with vodafone, cashback deal. I think if more people went for 12 month contracts again and not 18 month contract o2 dictates to consumers then they might reconsider re-instating 12 month deals again?
I have heard there are slight problems with c905 but its fine with me as ill be going into a 12 month deal with origanl sony warranty - but yeah the Iphone was not for me, just had a nice interface thats all.

Sadly SE have gone back to a lesser radio set for the c905
GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900
EDGE
UMTS 2100
HSDPA
rather than the
GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900
EDGE
UMTS 850
UMTS 1900
UMTS 2100
HSDPA
of the k850 otherwise it would be a no brainier.
That would be like going back to dial up for your home connection!
(As I'm in the US I need the UMTS 850 and 1900 for the AT&T network and UMTS 1700 if I were to switch to the TMobile network. 3G is such a frequency mess over here it is beyond a joke).

Ah. I'd said "I assume I can't..." so was confused by you sounding positive but also saying my assumption was correct lol.
Good point though about the heavy collection of plugs... would make it even more chunky & heavy sticking a travel plug on the end...
I'll see if Wifey's iPod charger works, else I'll just get a 3rd party iPhone travel thing. The official Apple travel plug kit is rather pricey considering I'd only want the US plug, & maybe the European one.
