Re: For joglynne and other cat lovers.
there's a cat that often comes trotting into the papershop (and other local shops), it's so cute - everyone just puts up with it, even customers that don't like cats!

... Great links Maggy.
Cats can be incredibly entertaining and enterprising...in a very dignified way of course.

Agreed. Our cat knows when the kitchen door is not closed properly and pulls it open from the bottom when he feels like it. Also when we open the window and put it on the latch he puts his paw through and try's to pull the latch up to let himself in.
They are very intelligent and can provide incredibly funny moments at times

Re: For joglynne and other cat lovers.
I agree icestar, they can be incredibly intelligent when it suits them.
Our cat, Pu, has become incredibly vocal since his brother died. He natters to everyone who comes into our home and will wait for gaps in the conversation to have his say. The really funny thing is that when he wants to speak to my husband, who is very deaf, Pu tries to get face to face with John and chutters much louder than when he is speaking to me.

That is incredible joglynne. I must admit I didnt realise that they could be as intelligent as your point about your husband proves. You must have a very loving and affectionate cat.
Our cat seems to be very moody (Almost seems angry sometimes). Its is very hard to please him at times. Most of the time he does not seem to like attention which I found strange. He is only around 2 years old so I am not sure if this is normal or not.
Well I say that but as soon as there is food around he is very affectionate lol

Re: For joglynne and other cat lovers.
Food, don't get me started on feeding the picky little darling.
When his brother was alive it was he who was the vocal one of the pair, Pu being the silent partner in their escapades.
They were very self contained house cats having re-homed at least twice, and been at the Cats Protection cattery for over 2 years before we adopted them at age 10. It took a long time for them to mellow and accept they had a proper home with us.

Re: For joglynne and other cat lovers.
We got felix (Yes I know Felix lol) when he was around 8 weeks I think. He was kept indoors for the first year (We were always scared that if he went out we would never see him again). He now comes and goes as he please's.
Thinking about it more it could be to do with the fact we have a dog that could be making Felix feel unappreciated ?? Although they do get along very well and respect each other's space. I think he even thought the dog was his mother at one point when he was younger.
Its more of a learn as you go experience here this being our first cat. He likes to sleep ALOT ! but I just find this is normal. I read the odd book and sometimes when he does something strange I will look it up on the net but I think at the end of the day that all cats are diffrent. They really do have their own personality and our is just grumpy lol.
Still wouldnt swap him for anything and he is loving when he wants to be. I think he is just trying to show he is boss at times lol. Strange how you become attactched to your pets so fast isn't it
Look at me going on lol I will try to keep my post's shorter now
EDIT** Sorry to OP for high-jacking your thread.

Talking about clever cats, I seem to remember Mrs Slocom had a very talented pussy.
I couldn't resist that one Jo

Here he is in later life.
