hi .
just a simple question for a simple man.ive just taken delivery of a new virgin 256 modem now b4 i proceed to swap it over how am i fixed as regArds the wireless router its a tp link wr641g........will it automatically recognise the new modem?or will i have to reset it and how as i didnt install in the first instance

Re: updating the modem

Unless you had to put some weird settings in the router previously, which would be unusual, it should all be plug and play.

However you do first need to ensure the modem is setup and running and for that you'll need to follow the instructions given to you by Virgin Media. If they need a computer to be connected when you are doing that then do so with it just modem <> computer ignoring the router.

When you are ready to setup the router connection just power everything off. Connect modem <>router <> computer(s), power modem, let settle with ready lights steady, power router and let settle then computer(s).
