Connection Help

Hi ,
Hope you Tech expects can help, I'm getting conflicting Info from NTL who seem to have a strange atitude to customer service.

Never used a forum before so bear with me.
I have just purchased a Panasonic PD50 TV / HC890 home cinema/ EB65 DVD recorder /Samsung Video. I have no terestriel Arial and service is by NTL set top Box ( Pace )

I would Like to:

Have chanels 1 to 5 as BBC1 etc 6 to 8 as NTL etc ( Portables in bedroom also on NTL but not set top box or internal ariel get channels 1 -5 no problem )

Be able to record my old videos to DVD.

Play all sound from TV on home cinema

Watch channels 1 to 5 while recording digital ( if poss )

Which order to tune in which.[/center]

At present i get no sound or picture from cinema, the only tv i can watch is by pressing the AV button on tv and using the NTL control.
When i put a DVD in the recorder it takes over the whole TV and have to stop play to get NTL chanals back.

Would you please guide me slowly through which item to connect to which with what cables?

Which scart sockets to use ( i've 5 on the TV ) and what to connect to them (same with RF)?

I'm sure all the problems are of my owm making but that does not make me feel better.

Any help / comments would be most greatfully recieved

Thankyou
Jeremy

And a Case of Plonk to the first with a workable correct answer.

[Admin Edit] (Neil)-Hi Jeremy-I've had to remove all the centering from your post, as it made it very difficult to understand, sorry.

Re: Connection Help

Hi,

And welcome to the forum

The simple explanation is that you will not be able to do this unless you have another ariel or if you can split the ntl signal. Splitting the ntl signal is easy enough with the right splitters but use the type you would for normal tv and you could ruin the signal your stb/cable modem would be getting.

If you can tell me how many scart connections each one has i'll try do you a piccy of how you can best fit it together.
