V+ box won't record double timed events
So, you've got two programmes at 9.00. Go to Favs, find them, click record for each so that they go red, sit back and...
Only ONE gets recorded.
Now, if instead of using Favs, you use the TV button itself, it works. So, you go to BBC1, go to the 9.00 programme, click record, goes red. Then go to ITV, go to 9.00 programme, click record, goes red.
Then BOTH get recorded.
Is this a fault? Is it a known fault? Would a full reboot cure it, or have I got a Friday box?
thanks.
Allen.

imo it looks like a software issue and now youve got a workround there isnt a problem anymore!

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
It's nothing to do with 'favorites' so look elsewhere
maybe you got 3rd prog set up to follow on which sometimes causes a problem due to overlap (although i understood this was fixed)
when you set up recordings you dont have to wait until they fail - just have a look at planned recordings and it will tell you what it intends to do and whether any planned recordings are due to fail

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
Itshim: well, in that case my box or its software definitely has (another) fault, so thanks for that info.
Jethro: see Itshim's answer, above. Maybe it shouldn't have anything to do with Favourites, but it does.
I'll carry on with my 'work-round' for now, but hopefully Mr Virgin will glance at these complaints occasionally and check his software. Seems a shame that on what is supposed to be 'state-of-the-art' kit, we consumers have to find a way round basic problems, doesn't it.

After setting the recordings using Favorites, did you go to 'planned recordings' to see what the V+ plans to do about them?

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
Jethro: Yes, I do NOW, but didn't before.
And as it seemed to have worked in the past, and for other people (see Itshim's answer), I still see it as a fault, even though I can now work around it.
Allen.

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
And what does it say in planned recordings?
Do both programmes appear in the planner?

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
If I record two same-start programmes through Favourites, then Planned Recordings confirms that it has failed.
So, since I saw that as the problem, I only record SINGLE programmes through Favourites, which work fine, and for second progs (starting at the same time) I go through TV guide. But I still have a look at Planned Recordings each time, just to be on the safe side.
Thus it seems that Planned Recordings can be trusted...

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
Hello again Itshim.
Well, full circle is reached, as I wondered about the box in the first place.
Now, can I really stand phoning the dreaded call centre?

Never had a problem if I call in the evening. Day time is another story.

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
Thanks for the advice.
I'll try one or the other, and post the results.
Allen.

Re: V+ box won't record double timed events
The virginmedia.support.tv newsgroup looked good, but the website says Outlook Express only, which I don't have (or want particularly), running Mac and its own systems.
So, I'll have a pop at the phone line one evening...
Allen.
