Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
I am getting horrible download speeds considering the upgrade is done.
Getting max speed off the VM FTP, but from anywhere else i'm struggling to get 100kb

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Since Swansea and Haringey are now listed before September that means the Bradford area should be done by the end of today.
Nothing as of yet.

Motorola 4100
From December 2000/January 2001 Customers started to receive the Motorola 4100. It is Docsis only (so will not work reliably if at all, on the parts of the network that use Eurodocsis). The 4100 models was Ethernet and USB, and Motorola soon introduced a model with USB as well, the 4100 (see below). Apart from the USB connector the 4100 also had a Standby button on the front. The 4100 remained in use until approximately October 2001.
Does not support 10 or 20Mbps Tiers of Service

Thanks for the link wdinat. Do you work for VM Tech Support?
It's getting a little confusing, as users on other forums say their 4100 is handling 10mb perfectly. The official VM site says the same. I don't know much about the Docsis/Eurodocsis issue. How does that affect users on VM?..
Is there a FAQ somewhere I can read?

Yes I do and you need to call in and get that modem swapped out for our new Ambit 256.
FAQ's you are reading them in any post on this Forum.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Just been upgraded here in Bradford, but suffering poor speeds so far.
Had the "SW INIT - Via Config file cm-10240-512" message in the modem logs, but struggling to get over 5000/400kbps on the bbmax speedtest. Getting a wildly fluctuating download rate between 4500 and 7500kbps from VM FTP site.
I wonder if this is due to me having a SB4100 modem? Although I did read a few posts on this very forum, admittedly some time ago, stating that people were getting 10mb with them just fine?
