Confused over platform move for 20Mb

Hi All,

I hope one of you knowledgeable folks can answer this for me....

I am unfortunate enough to be on an oversubscribed UBR meaning that my speed randomly plummets from a steady(ish) 9.7Mb down to 100-200k/s for a chunk of the evening.

I have heard rumblings that when the 50Mb rollout happens, current 20Mb subscribers will be moved over to the new DOCSIS platform, will this alleviate the oversubscription of my UBR or will the UBR need a physical upgrade to alleviate the oversubscription ?

I only ask because I've had this issue since September 2007 and it's getting a little silly now, tickets get opened then closed again as "Complete" with no work carried out etc...

All 20Mb users will be transfered on to DOCSIS 3.0 but that will be next year once 50Mb is fully released which should help the issues your having but Virgin Media havent annouce dates or anytning yet just keep a eye out

Cheers for that. Is there anywhere I can read up on this as I do find it interesting, is there anything on the web which particularly relates to VM's network?

Not really as far as I know you can listen to confernce calls on the web taking about the network well berkett talking the main thing Virgin Media is a fibre optic cable network using docsis so if you know the modems and the kit they use you will be understand the cable network alittle more
