Traffic Management question?
Well, it seems to me VM sure like to confuse customers to the point that they cant understand the terms on various matters properly much at all!.
Taking the Traffic Management in this case, I cant really understand properly what I can do with reguards to the upload and download limits. Sure, I've been on the site and read the info but I still dont fully understand what they are saying. But what I think it means is thus on our 20mb connection:
Daytime management (10:00 to 15:00) has it stated as 6000mb (6gb) downstream. There is no mention of upstream for some reason so my first questions are: A- Does this mean I can download upto 6000mb between the hours of 10:00am and 15:00pm on a daily basis before I have my connection managed for 5 hours?. B- Is the upstream for daytime peak hours unlimited due to no mention of it on the VM website or is the upstream included in the 6000mb downstream limit?.
Evening peak-time management (16:00 to 21:00 downstream and 15:00 to 20:00 upstream) has it stated as 3000mb downstream and 1400mb upstream. C- During these hours can I download 3000mb before I'm managed & D- Can I upload 1400mb before I'm managed?.
It's the only way I can understand the situation and I think I have it right. But we have been traffic managed a few times during the evening when I'm sure I've stayed within the limits unless I've miss-calculated the evening bandwidth!.

Re: Traffic Management question?
Well my 20mb connection appears to have been capped, despite being online for 1 hour today from 8pm and my wireless router being switched off before I came home from work.

Re: Traffic Management question?
What did you do/download in the hour, may we ask?

Re: Traffic Management question?
Just schedule downloads for after 21.00, I have over 30 GB queued for tonight, which is downloading at 2400 KB/s & will automatically turn the pc off after the expected remaining three hours, or so...
The resulting 7 DVDs will take a lot longer to watch, than they took to download .... ?

Re: Traffic Management question?
I just download whatever i want whenever i like and hope i don't trigger the STM. I'm not a massive bandwith user i prob only download about 50gig a month so i very rarely hit the STM limits.

One thing i can say is i have never been STM'ed incorrectly which i suppose is one good thing! Maybe you should go on the newsgroups chris they can tell why you triggered STM if you ask them !
