There is a private browsing mode, which if selected will not store the locations of the sites you visited in the address bar or history. It will also remove all cookies and the cache once you finished with the tab.

Not pointless at all, firstly because it's built in to the browser so is a lot more accessible than a third-party app, and secondly because it doesn't require any configuration in order to ensure it only deletes very specific aspects of your browsing history, cookies etc.
I haven't used CC for a while but I don't recall it being easy, if at all possible, to direct it only to remove certain parts of your cookie store, history and cache.

oh i didn't know that sorry, i think it just removes everything..
so it is a good thing, if we wanted to delete a specific cookie we would be able to much easier via the browser?

It basically just removes a session you have pre-selected to be private, So if you are doing private browsing (looking up credit stuff, banking, medical information) it will remove all traces of that browsing at the end...

yet more hype for something that doesn't appear to do much different, no doubt there will be a bunch of people to believe it's the best thing since sliced bread seeing as it's from google and will use it without knowing anything about it

It appears to do a lot different Have you actually read all the details about the browser?

re: Google Launches Internet Browser - Chrome
i think we know enough about it lol, i don't want to know a lot about it because i want to explore it when it comes out if you understand..
i like how clean it looks to other browsers, looks simple and easy and with it being light weight it shouldn't use much ram memory

Will it be more secure than Firefox? That's all I want to know.

re: Google Launches Internet Browser - Chrome
What's starting to annoy me are the individuals on other forums I frequent saying things like "ah yes I've already had a sneak preview of this but I'm not allowed to show you or talk about it" which translated means "I have no techie knowledge at all but you guys seem to and that makes me feel quite inadequate so in order to try and BS some credability I'll pretend I've used this new browser and BS a reason why I can't back it up with any proof".

It seems so due to:
- Sandboxing - Vista and OSX use this in their operating systems but this one has it at tab level. So if bad code is running in a tab it is confined to the tab and will not be able to do anything outside the tab (like access your data)
- List of malware and dodgy sites - Which will be used as a warning, like MS and Firefox has but hopefully better
- Some other stuff they mentioned

Sandboxing and separate processes for each tab? And better JavaScript handling for faster web-apps. some others I have forgotten but this seems a completely different browser, built with internet applications in mind. Like a browser is an OS

Well, Having used it due to my techie skills google just had to consult i can vouch for it's coolness. I'll let you know what's great about it when it's released since I am under a NDA

re: Google Launches Internet Browser - Chrome
It seems this browser is taking a different approach in terms architecture and systems integration. I.e. each tab will have its own process.
IMO - I can’t see this browser been that efficient on lower specced computers. In addition, having individual processes for each tab may cause your whole system to slow down. - Especially if you had more than one tab processing an intensive web app.
Only time will tell I guess.
But I think it will be horses for courses type review when comparing it to other internet browsers.
