Just checked around on the newsgroups for you but no joy I am afraid. I may have got the upgrade to-day but I still consider myself an honorary member of the club until we have all been upgraded. Together we stand and all that.

Thanks Jo - appreciate it!
Our inaugural AGM is scheduled for October, but I'm hoping it gets cancelled due to extinction.

I remember Swansea being one of the very first to have upgrades back in the good ol' days (NTL). Now it seems that its going to be the very last.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Manchester was done days ago, rickyg01. If you've just got the upgrade in the last day or two, I wouldn't be surprised if you are served from a Baguley UBR. (Baguley area = Birkenhead, Macclesfield, Runcorn, Stoke, Warrington, Brombrough, Stretford, Wilmslow, Withington). Any of these areas close to you?
I got ithe upgrade today as well. I'm incredibly happy with the performance boost too, I've been getting speeds not too far off the theoretical maximum all day (even at peak hours). This is a typical result I've been getting all day:
Plus I downloaded two large files simultaneously from gamerfiles and together they came in at bang on what you'd expect from the full 10MB speed....and that's a real world performance test, unlike speedtest.net which has many variables. I am a happy camper indeed...well worth the [seemingly never-ending] wait

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
I've just got the 10mb upgrade last night, but it just doesn't seem that much faster than 4mb, speed testing topping out at 5mb, and when I take a look at the modem configuration pages it says
Software Upgrade File Name : ntlhm120_ntl0004.cpr
Software Upgrade AdminStatus : allowProvisioningUpgrade
Software Upgrade OperStatus : failed
Is this some indication the the new firmware/speed has failed or is my modem on the way out?, which it could be as I've probably had it for over 9 years.

Call in and see about getting a new modem as that NTL120 will struggle with 10meg especially as it is 9 years old.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Still on 4MB. I'm in Handforth (SK9). Do I need to reboot my modem at all?
EDIT: I rebooted. Got the upgrade:

It's nice to see new members and new members who can solve problems are even more useful.

I have a NTL Home 120. http://www.chetnet.co.uk/articles/admin/images/100+.JPG
So I need a New Modem to get 10MB?
NTL Site said:
Great news!
You actually don't need a modem upgrade.
We've looked at your current modem specification and it'll deliver the new speed perfectly.
