Re: PS3/Laptop - Netgear Wireless Router

As you are on 20MB BB and are using a Wireless G router I would say its not worth changing your router at the moment. If you can get the top speeds on your existing router there really is no need to change.

Yeah i know what your saying but i did a speed test on my wireless router & it came up saying

download speed: 6Mb
Upload speed: 768Kbps

Is that a good speed for my laptop to achieve from my wireless router plus how much will my ps3 be getting regarding speeds when im online playing games, So if i added a 108mbps wireless router would i achieve better speeds on my laptop & ps3!!

Re: PS3/Laptop - Netgear Wireless Router

As I said via PM, depending on the capability of the card in the laptop and the signal level/quality between the router and the antenna it should allow you to get your full speed.

If your PS3 is connected by cable then you should be getting the max speed. New router won't help the PS3. But you should still be able to get full speed over Wireless on your current router. I can get the max speed on my laptop over wireless 54g.

i was using a buffalo 125mb router and was getting around 16-17mbs using wireless but to be honest with you if your going to upgrade the router you might as well get a wireless 'n' one now that way you won't need to upgrade again for quite a while
