Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
Hi Nugget, l do agree on the Berba agent stuff, but Fergie was after him at the begining of last season, but what the biggest problem surrounding Berba, he reminds me of Chivers, he was a lazy player, until Nicholson, put his boot up his backside, and l know, what Bill Nich, would have said today, if you don't want to play in our white shirt, you can leave, and he did not muck about either, l think if Berba, went to Man Utd, Fergie, would not put up with his moods, when he plays for Spurs, he can be very quiet one minute, then explode the next, and he does NOT like to be taken off, but this has been going on for the last 18 months. I have supported Spurs for 30 years, and the club has the same attitude, if you don't want to play for us, you can go, no matter how big the player was.

That's true Arthur, I know some think papers just make stories up but imo there is truth behind the stories, leaked to them by clubs and agents alike. The first post from last seasons transfer thread:

He has said he wants to buy one player and mentioned no names. The Sun have said he has bid for Berbatov and Levy has confirmed that by the complaint he has made. The anti-Ferguson/United brigade are out to critcise him for things he hasn't done because of the complaint made against Madrid.

He said at a supporters club that he expected to sign Berbatov soon, in front of hundreds of witnesses, care to explain that, or is that the Suns fault to
We have confirmed the comments came from Sir Alex talking at a supporters' meeting.
Of course United deny Fergie said any such thing, but then they would, wouldn't they?

Knowing the man's arrogance he probably turned up and addressed the Spurs supporters club......

Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
You missed the first bit -
A Tottenham spokesman added: "We have confirmed the comments came from Sir Alex talking at a supporters' meeting.
Ferguson then said -
"I don't know where they got those quotes from but it wasn't from me. The complaint appears to be on the basis of a story in a paper."
Fergie had an interview with United's Scandinavian Supporters' Club branch last week but the Reds have checked the tape and there is nothing untoward in the transcript.
It's one person's word against another at the moment, we wont find out until the premier league have looked at it. Fair enough, he deserves the criticism if he did say that but at the moment we don't know.

It doesn't take long for the whole anti-Ferguson/United brigade to come out these days does it?
What about Chelsea's public pursuit of Robinhio, shall we talk about that and the comments Kenyon has made?

Difference being that Robino was not wanted by Real Madrid. Robino himself has said he felt he was not wanted by the club as, ironically they were trying to use him as part of a deal to sign Ronaldo.
Besides I dont hear any complaints from the Real Madrid camp - just thinks about his valuation.
Oh and also unlike Man Utd/Fergie I havent heard anyone from Chelsea moaning about underhand tactics by any other clubs when it comes to unsettling their players.
I think you fail to understand the point that both me and the daddy have made. Un settling players happens all the time. We are just finding it totally hypocritical at how much Fergie/Man Utd etc moaned at Real's pursuit of Ronaldo when he does the same himself (he does have a proven track record of unsettling players)

I'm not going to get into this argument again, but saying that the whole Berbatov/United and Ronaldo/Madrid stories are the same in the way that clubs unsettle players is ridiculous, even if Ferguson did make those comments. The main differences being that United have actually made a bid and Spurs have said that Berbatov may be leaving, whereas Madrid have not made a bid and United have said Ronaldo is not leaving. Two huge differences and making comparisions is wrong because of them.
If we are talking about hypocrites what about Spurs and the way they took John Bostock from Palace? Oh yeah, that doesn't involve United, so isn't important, silly me.

You're forgetting that when one of those people is a United representative then they're automatically guilty.

Levy......
Quote:
"The public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players," he said.

Manchester United's Scandinavian supporters' branch claims they were to blame for the recent quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson talking about Dimitar Berbatov.
The group, who run a popular website in Norway, published quotes from Ferguson which are in turn believed to have been carried by some leading British newspapers.
Although the interview from Ferguson about Berbatov was claimed as an exclusive by one newspaper, the webmaster for the supporters' club feels they are to blame after misquoting the United boss.

See you in court Levy.

Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
How come there isn't uproar over Harry Redknapps recent comments? Where is the difference in what he says and what Fergie is supposed to be saying?
Quote:
He told Portsmouth News: "I know Shaun and his dad (former Arsenal and England ace Ian Wright) think Portsmouth would be a good move for him. And I would like a centre-half. Younes Kaboul wants to come here, but I heard Kaboul is going to Villa. I don't think there is anything he can do about it."
"Nicky Shorey at Reading is someone who I like, but he isn't going to come cheaply," he added.

Well the major difference is that their clubs haven't made any complaints
In other news we have signed Behrami. Good player imo might not tear up any trees but he tries hard
