Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer

SK5, Stockport... the neglected part of town that sees upgrades LAST... why? Ooo.. the posh areas have theirs!!

Here's a tip guys - this area is the *least congested!!*

It's like waking up expecting loads of pressies on Christmas day to find that all you've got is pretty much what you went to bed with...

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer

Well I don't know what's happening with the speedtests lately, getting consistently poor results:

CF Site Speed Test:
Mon, 21 Jul 2008 22:47:27 GMT

Test 1: 1024K took 3375 ms = 303.4 KB/sec, approx 2500 Kbps, 2.44 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 3225 ms = 317.5 KB/sec, approx 2616 Kbps, 2.55 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 3224 ms = 317.6 KB/sec, approx 2617 Kbps, 2.56 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 11947 ms = 171.4 KB/sec, approx 1412 Kbps, 1.38 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 2286 Kbps, 2.23 Mbps

Dan Elwell's
gives: 4225Kb/s

However a 60MB multi-thread download from VM Newsgroups came down at a fairly consistent 10Mb/s.

All completed within the last 10 mins.

So it proves the 10Mb connection can and is doing it!

Well it's nearly the end of july and they are nowhere near completing the areas that have been given that date.

But past upgrades were always followed by an extended period of cr@p service due to congestion..
This time they are trying to upgrade the areas before they uplift the speed so that people get the 10Mb/s speed.
