that is a misleading quote as the 41 billion dollars is the global spend on internet advertising, not OIX total revenue that the ISP's would share

Good point... (And on topic which is good!) Anyone know what OIX's share of the market actually is...? What number should they be quoting as "the pie that ISPs can get a slice of"?

Just to remind everyone, I will be taking part in Steve Gibson's Security Now! podcast tomorrow evening (7pm our time). I have just had a test call with Steve using Skype and it went very well, he was suprised at the quality of the audio and bandwidth despite our geographical distance from each other.
You can all watch the podcast on http://twitlive.tv as it is being recorded and there is even a chat application embedded into the web page so you can engage the presenters as the show is being recorded.

Hope to see many of you in there.

I will be doing an article on Thursday covering the Security Now! Podcasts and hosting them directly on the NoDPI web site as the set of 3 podcasts.

Incidentally, Security Now! has 110 000 active listeners, so this is a good opportunity to increase public awareness.

Kerching kerching kerching ----> Computer says; nil.

OIX hasn't launched yet, because they've got no ISPs operational (thank God).

Quoting the global figure in dollars sounds like big money. If you quote the global spend in rupees, its even better. Around 1.7 TRILLION RUPEES.

But OIX is still, currently, worthless even in rupees.

Even if they say they have people signed up to OIX, without delivering adverts there is zero revenue.

Well I suppose we ought not be surprised, I mean...
 http://www.phorm.com/about/introducing/OIX.html
If you click on the "Skip Animation" guess what happens... You get more animation LOL. Like adverts, just annoying!

Has there been a complete list of speakers drawn up for Wednesday's demonstration? I know some names have been mentioned but I wonder if there is a programme, running order type thing compiled?

Currently there are 3 verified speakers and speeches will take place between 12-2pm with Baroness Miller scheduled to speak at 1:15pm.

I haven't scheduled time slots for the other 2 yet as there is the possibility another Peer will be joining us and I need to make sure I can accomodate their schedule if they can make it.

If any of you guys would like to speak you are of course welcome just drop me a PM and we will get it organised, this is afterall a public protest it is only fair the public be given the opportunity to "have their say" but I have promised the local residents that speeches will only be 12-2pm so whereas it is a reasonable window it is limited to 2 hours.

one thing i am not sure of is if someone like the FT is signed up for phorm / OIX, they have a default advert as a placeholder waiting to be replaced by a relevant advert (if / when BT WebWise comes live), do phorm get any income from this advert or do they only get income when this default advert is replaced with a more relevant one

if so what is the mechanism for choosing this default advert, is it set by the site owner directly or is it just a random one from any advertiser who has placed an advert via OIX

i would also assume this advert is at a flat rate and not the premium as no auction has taken place for the targeted space and audience so minimal income at this point for both site owner and phorm and no income for the ISP

thats the revenue for premium targeted adverts, not the prabably lower income from the default adverts

even 10% of that 8.5million more than covers hosting / power costs just

it then depends on cost of maintenance by phorm as to whether it is economically viable
