Router dropping connections both wired and wirelessly.

Hi

In the past few weeks or so our router (Linksys WRT54G v7), has been dropping connection ever half hour or so, with me being in the wireless side i thought this is fairly normal as i am 2 floors up from the router, though it never used to happen often, but then i got told that the wired pc was loosing connection also.
Would you think ths is a glitch in the firmware or the actual hardware of the router.

Anyone? (I'm usually quite patience but this problem is really getting on my wick.)

Re: Router dropping connections both wired and wirelessly.

I have a WRT54G v7 & the latest firmware is 7.00.4 released in January 2007. If yours is older an upgrade is worth doing.

Does the wired PC maintain a connection when plugged directly into the modem?

Yes, that's the safest bet.

The router will reboot a part of the upgrade process (and they will lose their connections) anyway.
