Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor said there was a good chance he could be leaving Arsenal to join Barcelona.
"Barcelona have made a good financial offer," Adebayor told the News of the World. "Yes, I am still under contract to Arsenal but it is up to the directors to satisfy my demands, otherwise I will leave."

Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari that at least one Russian should be at the club.
The Brazilian now faces a choice between signing one or more of the country's Euro 2008 heroes from a choice of Andrei Arshavin, Yuriy Zhirkov, Akinfeyev Akinfeyev and Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Intresting.

Seen Arshavin a few times of which he's only really had that one bad game, looked a bit tasty when St Petersburg played Everton earlier in the season. The most consistently decent player out of the lot over Euro 2008 was definitely Zhirkov though

Just seen the sports pages in the Mirror it says that Abramovich has tabled a 12 million bid for Arshavin. He would be a great buy

It would be an intresting signing. He went missing in Russia's biggest game of the competition and he's already 27, if he's that good surely we would have heard his name before these championships? But if he plays to the standard he did agianst Holland it will be a good signing.

Re: Close Season Transfer Rumour Mill
I bet Scolari is wondering what he let himself in for. There was a brilliant, funny article in a paper (Express I think, can't remember) which was a spoof ad for the Chelsea manager's job, after Grant got sacked. Amongst other things it stressed the need to accommodate Abramovich's demands to play manager when he feels like it.

When Grant took over there were alsorts of things written about reasons for Jose's sacking - one of them being that he (Jose) hadn't played Shevva enough for Abramovich's liking and that Shevva hadnt been given a decent chance in the team.
That didnt change when Grant took over. If what we read about Roman picking the team (or influencing the team selection) is true then there would have been notable changes in Grants line up.

If you paid attention to last seasons UEFA cup then you would have heard of him, he had a superb competition

Who was the manager when Chelsea signed Bosingwa?

Yes and you cut the last part of my post of saying that he has played well against Holland, i didn't say he was a bad player. Sorry for not following Zenit St. Petersburg's UEFA cup run

I personally think that Chelsea had already decided to appoint Scolari very soon after Grant was sacked. I don't for one minute think that a decision to appoint him was made during the Euros. I do believe that Scolari would have made some indication that this is a player he wanted. I also dont think that Boswinga would have signed for a managerless club.
The uncertainty surrounding the club around the Euros - for example with papers saying players are going because thye dont know who the manager will be etc, forced Chelsea to reveal Scolari as a signing.
All my opinion of course, but it does make perfect sense.
