Which is true. Distance from the cable head end does not impair speed in the way it does for adsl users distance from their local exchange.

Re: Virgin rapped on broadband speeds
No good at quoting on this thing but anyway:
1 Money grabbing thieves IMO is not a bit much, this is exactly what this company is
2 How can they sell me unlimited broadband when I get limited the moment I have the cheek to start surfing the internet? They advertise their service as unlimited, they don't just say unlimited downloads - unlimited in their advertisements means unlimited downloads and unlimited speed up to the speed you pay for - limiting that does not make it unlimited!
They need more than just a smack on the legs for what they get away with. The company is a shambles and from what I see on this site the only people who are in bed with virgin are people who work for them or don't actually have the services, as everyone else who has to put up with VM rarely have anything good to say about them!
All my opinion and if you don't like it then tough to be honest, I've been a cable customer for a long long time and am for one sick of being screwed over by this outfit. NTHell might have been bad but compared to these they are angels.

You are not limited to how much you can download. The only thing that may get limited is the speed. You can still download as much as you can just at a lower speed
Now which part of that did you not understand?

Have you done checks to see which speeds you can get at your address?

i would be with be if i was close enough to the exchange and had a good enough bt line to see anymore then 8mbit i waS with ntl from 512kb and as soon as ukonline offered 8 i went with them but to my disapointment adsl was not good for me even though be is available to me i would not move from Vm who can deliver full 20mbit speed to me the VM cable box is right outside my house, i think thats a good thing lol
Id love to see some speed test results from bethere users on the 24mbit with 2.5mbit upload

Which part dont you understand? There is no such thing as unlimited download as it's always confined by your speed, if your speed is reduced then your limit is reduced. "Unlimited" downloads is false advertising

why "Should" it?? you dont have to buy the product and you know the upload speed from the outset.

Yes, i only live 1.8km away from the exchange, from reading BE's website this should be fine for the full 2.5mb upload on upload plus. I'm not concerned about the decreased download speed either for upload plus, even 10mb would do me.

sorry my english sucks, what i was saying is i am to far away from adsl exchange to get any good speed from bethere and if i was close enough to see full 24 and 2.5mbit upload i would move to be where there is no capping and a good upload. atm only VM can deliver me anything more then 8mbit

Re: Virgin rapped on broadband speeds
I think there was some confusion in my post. Where I said Be*, I meant the user, not the isp

lol im happy with this connection i dont want a good upload that badly to move
house if i wanted a good upload i would go home to cy and have 10mbit with 1mbit up for 99 euro a month vm is the only isp to give me full 20mbit and i am very happy with vm but the capping thing can be a little annoying sometimes..i live in a guest house so the guests use the connection also

Re: Virgin rapped on broadband speeds
I was just wondering if someone could outline the exact restrictions that are inforced at each time of the day as im slightly confused.
I know all about traffic shaping and throttling etc, but i dont know what restrictions i have on my connection, (10mb).
