Re: Mistaken 'queue-jumper' killed.
I would be a real hypocrite if i signed a congestion charge petition of any sort as i don't have or routinely use machines with an internal combustion engine . When it comes to being secretive and trampling on the rights of it's people we in the UK are mere amateurs when compared to the government of the US so as bad as this country maybe and might yet become it is still a long way better then the US.

Re: Mistaken 'queue-jumper' killed.
The irony is that compared to some countries the UK and US are miles ahead when it comes to democracy.
BUT if they/we aren't careful we may be meeting those countries that have a terrible human rights somewhere in the middle one of these centuries.

Perhaps the tramplings of the UK Government are slightly more covert ? In any case, the least that can be said for our friends in the US is that they are citizens, not subjects and have a constitution and Bill of Rights.

Re: Mistaken 'queue-jumper' killed.
The problem isn't just too few prisons, its the complete lack of discipline inside them. I read last week that (cant confirm these figures) 20,000 soldiers leave every year, but 40,000 prisoners REFUSED early release!!! They didn't want to come out.
I know first hand that some prison accommodation & conditions are far better than soldiers accommodation. We need to make prison a hell on earth, punish people instead of pandering to them. Then we may actually see the prison population fall.
