complete incompetence - very fed up with Virgin media

Im so so fed up with Virgin Media.

After recieving a letter demand money for an account that I did not have I contacted customer support and they admitted a clerical error and cancelled that account.

however this deactivated my internet connection and therefore i lost services for over a week.
my correct account was still active and charging me for services i no longer had.

numerous calls to technical support and customer services and eventually had an engineer out on site and he reconnected me.

This has now fixed the issue of lack of internet and I have been re-emburssed the relevant call costs.

However now i have found out that my email addresses no longer work.

So back I go to technical support to reactivate these addresses and technical support are unwill ing to help me as my account has not been reactivated correctly.

So off i go again to customer services and they state that my account is correctly configured and working fine.

So there I am with a working internet account but no email and technical support are unwilling / unable to help me and customer support say that everything is fine.

So what can I do ?

I have sent a stinking email complaint and will see what happens.

any advise that anyone can provide or is this just 'unique' to me ?

so so fed up and jumped through so many hoops to get back up and running.

Thread title changed.

This is a forum for constructive discussion aimed at solving problems - please don't flame Virgin Media in your thread titles, it gets things off on the wrong foot.

as for the newsgroups, they only seem to work for Outlook and outlook express.

unfortunatley (or fortunatley) I am using Linux so cannot set this up.

shame.

Re: complete incompetence - very fed up with Virgin media

Hmm. The only thing I can think happened is when they set up your broadband account, they set it up for areas references 20-22, where it was billed and controlled seperately to everything else.

In areas 24-31 it is billed with all other services, but used to be controlled seperately.

When you highlighted the error on the billing, they shut the whole account down, rather than converting it to a control only account. This is why your modem stopped working and why your e-mail addresses have disappeared.

Some changes to systems have been made over the last month and a half. This now means e-mail address are not required to set up modems, so this is why the e-mail address have not been reactivated. For what it is worth, it also means this can never happen again!

However, why technical support cannot manually reactivate them, I do not know

Customer Care cannot do anything as they have no access to the technical aspects of the account. They cannot see, add, remove or change any e-mail address or password. They can only see the billing of your services.

P.S. Newgroup access is not dependent on OS, just on the program you use

Try thunderbird for newsgroups or you could do as I do and use Opera's bulit in news reader.
