What cybernetic_tiger said

TACACS or similar should be used on any decent network to spot who logged in just before it went bang, and what they did...

Re: Logging/Command history for a UBR?

Wow, with the exception of one or two people, that wasn't the type of response I was looking for. To the one or two people, thanks! To the rest, you can relax, I wasn't in configuration mode, I was covering a shift for someone and my partner was on her lunch break. I was trying to learn a new command and wouldn't do any configuartion without knowing exactly what I was doing. I was actually trying to look at what an engineer had done previously and research it, to become a better technician in the future.

On another note, I would think that everyone was new once and that they could have used a hand without looking like a fool in front of their co-workers, but I guess you can't remember that or think you are above that.

I know that I work for Comcast and don't work for VM and it was just a simple command request, I wasn't trying to break into your network! What a bunch of paranoid people that were just looking for a reason to flame someone. I will find another forum that is more receptive to helping out.

However, I would have thought there would be specialist support lines that a legitimate employee would have been able to use to for this type of kit. I'm not going to close the thread, but urge anyone who does post to think whether or not their content could compromise a network, not necessarily just Virgin Media's

Apologies for the reaction of some members.. We do occasionally have people register and ask for info that is illegal (although usually about cloned modems or hacked STBs), and if the mods (like myself) see a thread like that, we usually close it and/or delete it. It looks like certain members have assumed you are one of these.

Although having said all that, if you do need specifics of UBR operation (and other network details), you may be better off finding another forum.

That sort of discussion isn't against the rules here (although discussion of specifics of how to hack networks is), but we are primarily a consumer based forum, so most of our members would have little idea of what you are talking about.
