Stupid question time. When I restart my modem do I click the "Reboot your modem" on the config page or unplug it?

Unplugging it gives the quickest response.

So are the caps still the same, or are there different ones?

The download limit stays at 800MB, the upload limit is increased from 325MB to 400MB and, most significantly, the download speed while STM'd increases from 1Mb/s to 2.5Mb/s (and the upload speed remains at 128Kb/s).

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Looking at the "Even Faster" page, only 25% has been completed so far. Are they going to start ramping up the speed that they roll it out? At the current rate it's going to be the end of 2009 before it's all done.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
My area has not been upgraded yet but will I need a BB Modem to get the higher speed or can I get this via my STB as it is configured at the moment.
If I need a modem instead is this free or do I have to pay
thanks

Broadband through the Samsung STB is limited to about 5 Meg, so yes you would need a modem fitted. This is a free upgrade (I think VM are trying to get everyone migrated away from broadband through the STB anyway) but you will need to call customer services and arrange it.

If your STB needs replacing, VM will supply it free.
To check if you need a new one, head over to VM's Even Faster section and select Broadband Service L in the drop down box and the next page will ask you to select your current kit (STBs are at the bottom of the list). Click on your STB and it'll let you know if it's suitable for the 10Mb service (if it ever arrives!).
If you don't fancy calling a premium number, you can request a new modem via VM's Tech Support newgroup as well.
Need help getting onto VM's Tech Support newsgroup?

Thanks for the info - looks like I need mine replaced but as I have a fault on it anyway I will log a call via the fault line and get it replaced then.
