V + Gutted :(
Guys
Had my V+ installed yesterday, the engineer showed us it working. Great. So trying to record something last night, got the error "V+ Unavaliable" I thought to myself, its probably new. So I left it for the night.
Came to it this morning, its been slow and slugish - again put it down to being new. Anywho early afternoon, the box froze and I had to pull the plug. It started up fine, everything was alright V+ apeared, great but it was slugish thought nothing of it. Early evening, it crashed again, turned it back on and nothing worked, when you press home, it doesnt bring up the menu, when you try and change channel it takes roughly 5 minutes. V+ gives the error "unavaliable" spoke to tech support - they said, turn it off / on ill send a signal - so followed the instructions he gave - it didn't work. He then said, leave it for 72 hours and it may work.
So I rang back, somebody told me the box isn't recieving signals properly and need an engineer, but he hung up on me.
A little gutted to be honest, can anyone offer any advice?

Re: V + Gutted :(
Just call them up tell them the problem and how unhappy/put out you are, they may be able to compensate you for your lost service time (if you're that miffed say its not a good start/can take the box away etc.) Something similar happened to me with my modem and they refunded me the internet for the month. There's not much else you can do in terms of getting it sorted really.
I would try to call them before 8 (before 5 better) and speak to their customer services, if you explain how complex/technical the problem is they should automatically speak to one of their UK techies and see what the problem is. Without sounding like a bigot don't even bother trying the dedicated 090 number they really can't do much to help.

Re: V + Gutted :(
Unfortunately Customer Services can only access the same faults line as Customers. They do not have a 'UK tech' line.
The 0906 number is only for broadband Faults. All TV faults including those for V+ are free on 151 from a Virgin line
To the OP, it sounds like you have signal level issue. You definately need to get a tech back ASAP

Re: V + Gutted :(
You're right, I don't know why I thought about the broadband helpline number.. Guess because of how outrageous it is/was. I've found whenever i've spoke to the customer services they usually seem to get someone with a lot more 'cop' than whenever I try, but again that's just broadband.
OP listen to BenMcr but be sure to note how long it's not been working for all the way til the tech comes (which may be next week as the weekend is impending) and tell the advisor this. I would definitely try to get something back off VM if you're paying for something you're not receiving. For this month at least.

Sorry to hear this webby, I know from your other post how much you were looking forwards to your V+, anyway on the bright side you might get a bit of compo, and Id imagine VM will replace the box.

Re: V + Gutted :(
I had 4 V+ boxes that had various issues.
Now had my 5th box well over a year and all is good.
If it's not working call them and keep calling until it's resolved.

Yup, I was well and truly excited for this! To be honest, I am gutted. On the plus, an engineer is coming tomorrow to sort the box out.
On the down side, stupid "tech support." All the kept on saying turn it off, turn it on. Ill send a signal. Really did my head in
Not fussed about compo, just want me TV working
BenMcr - thats the way it looks but the controller doesn't work with box either, well it half does. Its very bizzare. Its been down since about 15:00 Yesterday.

Re: V + Gutted :(
Good news!!!! FInally
After the engineer arriving, he had to change the box 3 times and it eventually worked. Didn't say what was wrong, just said "there you go"
Pleased
