they will take a max of 1478 with the ping command till they just time out. if you take off any TCP headers and stuff, thats about right to the 1492 theory.

I hope somebody can pass on this information in hope itll help.
Just copied that across to the newsgroup.
Thanks for the tip, refraction!

Re: DNS problems virgin media

this situation should be improving, 195.188.231.13 is accepting larger packets again.
.21 is still problematic tho

Re: DNS problems virgin media

well its nationwide but only certain areas, if you look under their nationwide problems it says nothing, but you select the south west or yorkshire and you get that message.

The problem which effected us seems to be some of their core servers we go through (obviously others too) but its slowly getting fixed

hmm, are you using a proxy of some sort? your internal network seems insanely complex.

Re: DNS problems virgin media

good read, should have come here before rebuilding my Linux desktop twice over the weekend

I'm getting better response with OpenDNS addresses, but still cannot access all pages.

www.boltblue.com hangs
www.facebook.com works with OpenDns but not with VM DNS

anyone have a clue when VM will fix the problem????
