Looking for proof of Virgin media offer in Aug 07 for half price BB for 12 months?

When I joined Virgin in August 2007 I signed up to the half price for 12 months broadband offer of £22.50 for 4 meg broadband, phone line rental and basic TV.

In November I phoned and got them to change the package to 20meg with all calls for £30.45 per month (they've been charging me £42.45 since then, and have only just given me a £60 credit for this period!), but I've just realised that from August to November they were charging me £37.50 per month instead of the £22.50.

When I phoned and realised this, the guy in customer relations said there was no record of this offer on my account notes, but (said he) could not access any of the letters, etc sent out at that time, etc. I know it was only £22.50 (I wouldn't have taken 4meg BB for £37.50). I asked him to find out which promotions Virgin had on at that time to clarify, but he said they dodn't have that info, and wouldn't put me through to his manager, or anyone else (said no one would have record of any online offers....)

This is crap. I've had a search online and can see links to a Virgin offers mentions on a BB news site from around that time, but the link takes me to the current offer. Does anyone have records of the offer from August 2007 from when they took it out? If I can get details of the promotion (like a code or offer name) I can go back and have another go. I'll still pursue it, as it's ridiculous that I can't speak to someone who can take the matter on board or who can look into it properly, but it would help if I can go back and say 'look this was the offer' and tell them to see how I signed up (ie through their website).

I bloody hate ISP's! Had six months of hassle with Bulldog (ended up with them sending court letters before backing down and refunding me £80) and now Virgin are messing me about!

The only 1/2 price offer for BBI Virgin have ever done is for 3 months.

Back in august 2007 there was an offer of BB L for £16 for 12 months but in alot of areas this couldn't be taken with TV

Sounds like you were on the equivalent of the £15.50 offer (+£7 would make it £22.50)

This was made up of £10 broadband (+£7 for BB L) and 1/2 price line rental for 12 months.

Both options should exclude TV though

I can't remember how it was made up but it was definately £22.50 total for 4meg BB & phone line rental. I have Sky so the TV option was never something I wanted, but automatically included. When I went through the online order it didn't give me the option NOT to have the basic TV.

Sorted. I emailed a complaint and got a call back a few days later. I explained that I should have been paying only £22.50 a month from Aug and not the £37.50 I was charged, and the lady I spoke to was helpful and is arranging for me to be refunded the amount I have been overcharged.

A lot of hassle to get it done though, and hassle I shouldn't have had to be dealing with.

4MB BB £37.50 pm, I thought £37.50 was for 10MB(upgraded to 20MB last year). I've never paid more than £25 for 4MB

Re: Looking for proof of Virgin media offer in Aug 07 for half price BB for 12 months

I'm having the same troubles with Virgin. I signed up in August 07 and was offered a deal of £28 per month. The deal was that I got XL broadband + phone for the price of the L broadband + phone. When I checked my bills I am actually being charged £37 per month. When I spoke to them of course no one had heard of that offer so I'm at the stage of writing an email to the complaints department - any tips? Did they ever produce any of your paper work?
