Move Temp file from C Drive ?

I have been trying to extract a compressed file 2GB compressed ,about 4GB when expanded .When you extract it it does not give you option of were you want to extract it to ,so it extracts to CDrive temp file .I dont have enough space on that drive to extract it .Can the temp file be moved or is there another way .?

Re: Move Temp file from C Drive ?

if your c drive does not have 4 gig of space on it your rapidly heading into trouble (if c is os drive) try cleaning up right click c select properties disc clean up then click more options and system restore. Click clean and whatever you need to press to get it to do it then try with your file

Start > Control Panel
System Properties
Advanced Tab
Environment Variables Button
Change it there. BE CAREFUL. The new destination needs to be always accessable and the folder name needs to be created before you make the change here.

There are 4 variables to change. Two user variables at the top TMP and TEMP and two System Variables at the bottom TMP and TEMP.

I had the same problem on my desktop. Partitioned 10/50/100. The 10 was fine but bloated windows updates have increased the size of XP and the need to write DVDs has increased the need for temp space to around 5Gb. Easier to make this change than repartition or reinstall the OS.
